Summer slung her arm around Harry’s waist cheerfully, pulling her along. “Come on. I’m tired of students. I’m ready for some adult conversation.”

Harry laughed, shaking her head. “Too true. I’m ready to spend time with someone who doesn’t remind me that I’m barely older than them.”

“How about,” Summer murmured slyly, “someone who reminds you that they are the same age?” She lifted her eyebrows, smile picking up a flirtatious quality.

Summer laughed a little. “Whereas I think mine may wind up being mostly practical. There just aren’t that many books that talk about what I’m covering, and I don’t really want to step on Deucalion’s toes too hard.”

Harry shrugged. “I feel like practical goes over better sometimes. I love books, personally, but the kids can get antsy and prefer the real life examples sometimes.”

“Short attention span theatre,” Summer teased. “Well, I guess I’ll leave you to it, then. Tomorrow night?”

Gently, Summer said, “You don’t seem okay. I’m concerned for you, Max.” She could tell the girl was nervous, but without more information, she had no way to know why. “You can trust me.”

“I’m fine, really.  S’just not something I like talking about.  You don’t have to worry.”  She gave the woman a smile and a shrug.  Even if she was one of the teachers, she was still a stranger to Max, and talking about something so personal wasn’t something she did with strangers.

She spread her hands. “I do have to worry, but if you don’t want to talk about it … ” With a sigh, she gave up. “Good night, Max.”

She offers a hand. “My god, how is it you don’t teach seduction?” she teases. “Your voice is a sin. I’m Summer.”

“Very nice to meet you,” he says with a charming smile. “I would have but it was already taken, unfortunately. Sexual literature is just fine with me, however.”

“Are we talking about things like the Kama Sutra?” she asks. Gesturing for him to walk with her, she heads off the campus, tucking her hands behind her back and looking up at him while he talks.

“Tomorrow is good. You’re assigning papers already?” Summer asked, her eyes twinkling. “It’s a good thing I’m not a student, I think I would fail your class.”

“They’re small things. I don’t have as much practical in my class, so I have to start somewhere.” Harry shrugged lightly. “It does make me ‘that teacher’ though, who’s already assigning papers.”

Summer laughed a little. “Whereas I think mine may wind up being mostly practical. There just aren’t that many books that talk about what I’m covering, and I don’t really want to step on Deucalion’s toes too hard.”

Summer offered a smile around the room, meeting as many eyes as possible. “Nobody has any thoughts for how touch affects us? I promise I don’t bite, this is the wrong class for that.” Perching on the edge of her desk and letting her legs swing, she considered the faces again. “You. Miss Martin, yes? What do you think?”

Lydia looked up at her then looked around the room at the other students. “Touch is the number one thing that turns people on. Correct me if I am wrong,” she said with a shrug. She was book smart but sex if a totally different thing

“I was hoping you might pursue the topic a little more deeply,” Summer commented. She was going to have trouble with this one, she could tell. Lydia Martin was obviously used to being the head of the class, and more knowledgeable than her teachers.

“Well, Max, I’m Ms Rainault. Do you want to talk about what’s bothering you? We can go to my office and you can sit down, relax a little.” She put a hand on Max’s shoulder. “It’s not unusual to be nervous in a new place.”

“Thanks, but I think I’m okay.  Just…working on handling all this stuff, I guess.”  It wasn’t just nerves, it was the whole totally-uncomfortable-with-sex part of her too.  She’d manage, though.  Just needed to get used to it, right?

Gently, Summer said, “You don’t seem okay. I’m concerned for you, Max.” She could tell the girl was nervous, but without more information, she had no way to know why. “You can trust me.”
