Sleipnir stood in the grand foyer of Stark Tower, shifting around in his clothes uncomfortably. Clothes. They rubbed against his skin in a way not unlike tack would, only much… softer. He was also wearing shoes- apparently they were called “sneakers.”
He didn’t think he’d be sneaking up on anybody anytime soon in them. They tended to squeak on the marble flooring when he walked (which he had, miraculously, gotten the hang of). He kept expecting to go sliding all over the marble again, since the last time he walked on such a surface it had been worse than ice. He’d also been given several odd accessories, such as something called a cell phone- a black square which lit up and told time, as well as when you pressed a button on the screen it called somebody.
He was informed that the speed dial was Pepper. Not that he knew what a speed dial was. Also, he had been told that the cell phone contained games, and he was allowed to use it the entire time he was human. Sleipnir was unsure of how one could play games with it, though he suspected the colorful buttons had something to do with it. The cell phone blinked on when he touched it, declaring that the time was 8:04. Piper had informed him that she’d meet him and Summer at 8:10. He supposed he’d better just wait, and not get into any situations (which, to be fair, he was likely to get into since he didn’t know much about the world).
Piper, out of her costume, waited in a chair in the grand foyer of the Tower. She was draped in a cushy chair, the U shaped kind with high arms and back, her legs over one arm rest, her neck against the other, sitting in it sideways. In her hands she had her DS, and she was busily mashing buttons to beat the Elite Four to a pulp for the the fifth time.
At the sound of footsteps, she looked up and smiled.
“Hey, Slep!” Piper called out, hopping out of the chair. In his human form, he was dark haired, sharp features, and a little gangly- kinda cute too. “Glad you could make it! Where’s your friend?”
Entirely on cue, Summer shoved the door to Stark Tower open with a well-placed side kick, and stuffed her phone back in her pocket. Holding out a hand to Piper, she smiled. “Summer Rainault. You kids ready?” From a belt loop, she unhooked a jingling set of keys. Flicking through them with just that hand, she winked at Sleipnir.
“You look really good in that shape, Sleip. Piper is going to have to beat them off you with a stick!” She sounded almost gleeful about it. “What’s the plan?”
Sleipnir smiled and replied easily, “She’s coming. I’m more glad you could make it, considering your position. I’ve just been lounging around all day.” He glanced down at the strange contraption in her hands and decided it was a type of cell phone. She seemed to be playing a game on it, at least.
He turned towards the doors when he heard them slam into a wall (as did several other people in the foyer) and chuckled (it was an interesting new feeling, to be able to properly laugh). Of course the fiery Summer would kick in the doors. “I am ready to go when you are, Piper. Whenever you reach a point in your cell phone game where you can stop.”
He turned towards Summer again and blushed slightly, which was another entirely new feeling, though he knew it had something to do with embarrassment. It was rather inconvenient, to wear your emotions so plainly in this form. “I fear you and a weapon of any kind would not go together very well, Summer,” he informed her, after hearing her tone of voice. “And I’m pretty sure Piper has a…what is it called? Game plan?”
“Of course,” Piper said, grinning. “You must be Summer. Nice t’meetcha,” she greeted. She stuck out her hand like her aunt taught her.
She didn’t know Summer, but she did trust Slep, so any friend of his… And she seemed nice enough, to be sure.
“Piper Parker.”
Summer shook Piper’s hand quickly. The other girl was young and outrageously cute; it made Summer feel old and worn. She ignored that feeling, though. You were only as old as you let yourself feel, and tonight she intended to feel very, very young.
“Well, my car is ready to go, and I’m ready to take y’all, just as soon as I know where. Sleipnir, you’ve got the backseat, because your legs are longest. Tall people, pff.” She bumped a fist into Sleipnir’s arm.
