“See how little you can come up with?” Summer shrugged again. “I seem nice because I cheat. I know when people can be trusted, and when they can’t. Now you, there’s shadows in there, right enough, but you’ve never let them rule you. You have a good heart, and everything that’s happened to you has made it stronger.”
Tom looked down for a moment, seeming to think about it. “Sorry, I really just don’t want people to think of themselves so lowly..it may be one thing to be humble, but..I really don’t know.”
