“What are you blabbing about?” Marie asked as she looked down at her older sister from her spot on the roof.
“I met a demon. With Tony’s face. He offered me beauty and control … “
“Now why would you want something so immature as that?” Marie asked jumping down from the roof, ”You look fine and you don’t need control.”
“It would be nice to be able to keep you out of my head. It would be nice not to look in the mirror and doubt myself.”
“Everyone doubts themselves, hell I am sure my father doubts him self ever second, but he doesn’t let it take him over he grows. Youu need to get drunk hun.”
“I’ll just fall asleep, and believe me, that’s not where I want to be right now. I’m tired of hearing all of you, do you understand? I’m tired of listening to feelings not my own. I don’t even know what my own are anymore.”
“The train jesus stop whining. I have to hear a twisted version of myself whispering sadistic shit about dragging my soul into the darkness everyday of my life I just block it out.” Putting her face in her palm, Marie sighed.
“Ah. Yes. You would think it’s so simple, wouldn’t you? Suck it up, Summer, your life isn’t bad. Just block it out, stop whining.” She called a little fire into her hand, dancing it over her knuckles like a magician with a coin. “Soooo easy, just ignore, just slide away, let the shadows overwhelm you; nobody cares, after all, what becomes of you. What do you need with a soul? You’re a killer, you’ve always been a killer. You’ll never be anything but a killer.”
Laughing Marie held out her hand, as a ball of darkness appeared in her hand,” You don’t know me Summer, I kill because I have to. Your nothing more than a spoiled little brat, complaining because she has responsibilities.” Closing her hand she glared at the other woman,” So I rather be a killer than a brat.”
“I’ve taken the cats to a boarding kennel. They’re paid for two weeks. Keep the apartment.” She didn’t look at her ersatz sister. “I don’t know you. But I know what you feel. I won’t stay where I’m not wanted.”
Stepping away from the railing, she finally looked back, face lit from beneath by the little fireball. “You came to help me, and for that I thank you. But, this, now? Keep your anger, your pity, your frustration.” Turning on her heel, she walked away.
