Falling
Summer sighed. “Mostly I’m angry because for a human that amount of alcohol would have killed you, and /you’re not human/. So I don’t even know if you might have given yourself alcohol poisoning, or anything.” She knelt beside the bath, picking up a washcloth and wetting it before gently rubbing at the blood on his head. “There’s just too much I don’t know about you, and I think that has to change, Victor.”
The shock of the water was starting to sober him up a bit, that and the searing pain in his head. “Well, as far as I know, there are very few things that can kill me and alcohol isn’t one of them. But obviously enough of it can cause some serious damage. I had a problem with alcohol when I was younger though, before I was a vampire. It started after I killed her,” Victor shuddered, “I couldn’t control myself, just one glass after another until I finally kicked it. It came back though apparently.” He looked up at her. “What do you want to know?”
Most of the blood was gone, and she could see now that it was just a little cut that would likely heal on its own with no trouble. Dropping the cloth in the water, she cut the heat with a little cold, and laid her hands to Victor’s temples. Painblocks were easy. “When I take this off, you have to sleep. Start with the person you killed. The memory that started this.”
Victor closed his eyes at the feel of her hands on his temples and sighed. “Her name was Claire and I loved her. We were together in college and she was a major part in my transition to the ‘real world’ from the Institution. It was stupid of me to think that the Institution wouldn’t look for me and apparently I had left a trail a mile wide. They got her; they got her and they tortured her. As soon as I found out they’d taken her I knew things were going to get really bad very fast. I knew their handbook, had it drilled into me from the moment I started training. There were two assassins, guards really, from the Institution waiting for me. Really they were just meant to slow me down and keep me from saving her. When I found Claire she was so close to death, there was no chance she’d make it. I held her, she could barely speak, blood leaked from her abdomen and when I came away from her I was soaked in it. I didn’t want her to suffer anymore, I knew what I had to do but I didn’t want to have to.” Victor paused and a single tear rolled down his cheek. “I shot her, I killed her and finished the job the Institution had started.”
He was quiet for another moment, “I hunted down a few key members of the Institution after Claire’s death and then a few more once I had become a vampire. They know better than to come for me now.”
Summer was silent for a long moment wen he stopped talking. “Ten years ago, yes? More. And as vivid as the day it happened,” she said finally. “Why do you cut yourself on it?” She looked around the room, searching for a candle, but gave up after a moment, turning back to Victor. “Is that the worst of it?”

“Oh,” she sighed, “the stories all tell like it’s some kind of bliss, so your, um, victims don’t want to run away screaming. It was a stupid idea, really.”
Victor’s eyebrows shot up a bit. “Well, if you’re into it, the feeling is fantastic. The feeling of bliss depends on the vampire I suppose and how they release the endorphins. In all honesty, I’ve never bitten anyone that wasn’t a vampire. The people I feed from have all been contracts I’ve had so I never worried about them running away.”
Summer opened her mouth, hesitated, then said, “I was going to say, that’s cheating, but on the whole I think I prefer you, um, eat that way. Never mind.” Leaning her forehead on his, she stroked the back of her fingers down his cheeks. “Love you.”
Victor chuckled a little bit then smiled. “Did you want me to bite you?” He ran his hands up and down her sides and gave her a quick kiss, humming contentedly at her words. “Love you too.”
“I just really want to stop thinking. Stop hurting. But it’s a cheat, if you — I mean, if I — anyway. It’s cheating. The pain will still be there afterward.” She sighed heavily. “No, if ever you bite me, it shouldn’t be an escape for me.”

Summer tilted her head back, closing her eyes. “Just like that. /Just/ like that, Victor darling.” She squirmed around until she was straddling his lap, instead of half-draped across it. “Tell me why you love me. All the reasons.” She bit at his nose. “Would it hurt, if you bit me?”
His hands went to her waist and he smiled. “I love you because you’re strong of mind, you’re strong willed, you care, you’re understanding, I can trust you and I can be myself around you, Summer. For that, I love you.” He cocked his head a bit and regarded her, “Well, it would hurt a little, I can be gentle, just graze the skin, or I can bite you. Either way, I promise you wouldn’t become a vampire. Why?”

Falling
“Fine.” Annoyingly, her anger was starting to fade; she bit at her lip and stalked the two steps necessary to face him, sticking her hands under his shirt and jerking upward. “Arms.” Obediently he lifted his arms, and she pulled the black fabric off in one smooth motion, damping his pain for that second. She considered turning the water on cold, but decided she wasn’t feeling /that/ vicious, and pointed. “In. Now,” before turning the water on full hot.
Quietly, Victor got up and sank into the tub, cringing and taking a sharp intake at the temperature of the water. He was careful to hold onto the sides of the tub so that he didn’t slip back and hit his head again. He turned and looked at her with big honey gold eyes. ” ‘m sorry love.”

Summer curled into him, clinging tightly, kissing him back. Both arms went round his neck, one hand sinking into his hair. His warmth was a solid bulwark at her back, his love a solid strength in her mind. Wherever he’d come from, whyever they’d come together, so quickly, whatever it meant — right now it meant the thing she needed to hold on to herself. “Your /mouth/, darling,” she whispered.
“My mouth? I didn’t realize it had therapeutic powers, love.” Victor smirked then kissed at her jaw, licking at the corner of her mouth here and there then moving to nibble at her chin a bit. “Like that?”

Falling
“Right.” Pressing her lips together, she maneuvered the two of them up the stairs, and into the bathroom. “Do I have to undress you, or can you do that?” Summer planted her hands on her hips, eyeing him narrowly.
Victor’s hair was matted from the bleeding cut on his head and felt that he could shrink under her gaze. He sat down on the closed lid of the toilet then began working on shucking his pants, boxers and socks. It took him a while but once he finished the pain in his head was something fierce. He gulped and looked at her apologetically, “I uh, need sum ‘elp wif my shirt.”

Go on ANON and tell me what you think of me. I do not want to know who it is, at all. Don’t tell me who it is, don’t give me hints, don’t say your screen name. Tell me exactly what you think of me. Don’t sugarcoat things. Don’t lie. If you hate me, tell me why. Tell me what I’m doing wrong. If you like me, tell me why. Tell me exactly what you think of me.

“/Six/?” Summer gaped at Victor. “You fucking IDIOT. You — you — ” She couldn’t even find the wherewithal to swear at him, she was so shocked. “That’s not a problem, Roth, that’s practically suicide. Gods give me strength, /why didn’t you tell me about this sooner/?” Her voice vibrated with suppressed emotion.
She put her hands down on the floor, bracing herself while she took deep breaths. Heat moved under her skin, begging to be let out. “Get up.” She moved smoothly to her feet in one motion. “Get up, and lean on me. I’ll — I’ll deal with that later. Right now, you are getting in the bath, and I am sobering you up.”
Victor cringed a little at the use of his last name. He realized how pissed off she was, and honestly it hadn’t been this bad in a while but it scared him that a memory could do this to him. He clawed at the wall he was slouching against until he was leaning heavily on the wall. He reached a hand out for Summer’s shoulder, a sudden wave of light headedness overcoming him but he managed to stay standing. Victor took a few more steps, still bracing a good portion of his weight on her. “Bathroom’s up tha stairs, firs’ door on tha lef’.”

“I don’t know.” It was nearly a wail. She struggled to keep from breaking down a third time. “God, Victor, I don’t know!”
Victor didn’t know what do to exactly, or what she wanted but he leaned in and kissed her lips. He lazily licked at her lower lip and put as much comfort and kindness into the kiss as he could, nothing about it sexual. Then he pulled her down so that they were laying next to each other; well, her more on top of him than anything. He kissed her again, focusing on giving her strength, on being her rock.
Summer curled into him, clinging tightly, kissing him back. Both arms went round his neck, one hand sinking into his hair.
