A 23-year-old Robert Downey Jr. in Rented Lips (1988)
Lately I try my best to avoid this but— holy young Tony Stark!
RDJ FILMS THAT YOU MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE SEEN: Two Girls and a Guy (1998).
also known as: that film where RDJ plays a two-timing actor/musician who’s caught in his lies and confronted by his two girlfriends in his NYC apartment. James Toback had written the part with RDJ in mind and allows him plenty of freedom and to improvise the majority of his lines. While not exactly an oh-wow-amazing film, I think it’s a great one to watch to witness RDJ just act, without special effects or elaborate costume. It’s a raw performance. Those gifs of RDJ licking and swapping spit with a woman? It’s from this film.Oh, and RDJ eats out Heather Graham. Yay, cunnilingus!
But Summer….
Summer sighed. “I’ve given up arguing, why are we still talking about this?”
“Sorry love, I was just trying to make you understand it wasn’t just a ‘cool cat, want’ kind of thing without any prior knowledge.”
“Okay. Okay.” Summer ran her hands through her hair. “I just don’t like to think of wild animals as pets — no matter how good you are to them, it’s never going to be the same.”
But Summer….
“I’m not stopping you. I wash my hands of it. You do what you like.” She shook her head.
“Have I irritated you love?”
“You have, a little. I guess I just don’t understand this sudden … thing.”
“Well, at the Institute we trained animals for combat, mainly dogs and hawks but I’ve been missing that….that kind of companionship. And I figured that now that I was at this property and it has a lot more land than my others, that I could get a pet or two.”
Summer sighed. “I’ve given up arguing, why are we still talking about this?”
This — is that friend whom you feared to lose, yes? *looks at her, eyes narrow* Well met, Summer. *to Tony* You did not name her so before.*blinks at Loki, blinks at Tony, blinks at Loki* Um. Hello, Loki. *looks very confused* Did … you just call me … your girlfriend? *looks back and forth between them again* Am I allowed to talk to Loki?
*scratches the back of his head* Should I not have? I mean, you’re the one who asked if we were officially dating. *puts both hands up like he’s warding off the situation* Whatever. Go ahead, talk. I’ll just jinx the entire thing.
You have resolved your differences, then. Why should you not speak to me, lady? I will offer oath not to harm you. *places a hand on Tony’s shoulder, possibly seeking reassurance, possibly offering it*
Okay, I can’t do both these conversations at once. *rubs at her forehead* What’s wanted of me, right now? Smile pretty at the alien demi-god? I don’t want to repeat the last fiasco. How is this supposed to work, Tony? Loki?
If you don’t have time for me, you don’t have time. I’m controlled, but I can always use extra help. *shrugs* Sorry to bother you.You aren’t bothering me in the least. As I said, I would be only too happy to make time. I can’t change the fact that I have several obligations, and I won’t neglect them — which is why I have a competent staff — but anyone seeking haven or education is more than welcome at Westchester.
Should I make an appointment, then? Or maybe send an inquiry letter? I don’t need a haven — I’m capable of protecting myself, and Tony’s happy enough to take care of me. But I was hoping to find some … let’s say, comrades.
god, what is this even FROM?!
