“I think there’s a simple solution to that. I don’t stay anywhere that doesn’t allow me to take my cats with me. They can simply stay at the hotel room. And, I know your job is important to you, but, for the record, what I make could support the both of us and all the cats fairly easily.” He sounded like he was bragging. And he kinda was to some extent. Robert placed a kiss atop of Summer’s head.“But, if that doesn’t interest you, then by all means, keep your job and come when you can. As long as I can see you, it won’t hurt my feelings all that much.”
“I need to think about it, okay?” It wasn’t just her regular job. There were things that she’d need to rearrange if she didn’t have a fixed address as much. “It’s really tempting. Just give me a couple weeks, okay. You really can just text me and ask me to come see you.”
“Take the time you need. By that point, I’ll probably be back home in California, but until then, I’ll keep in mind that I can simply pick up the phone and give you a text. I don’t know why I forget about that.” Truth be told, between filming and then relaxing, along with interacting with the fans, Robert wouldn’t think about it. Not immediately, anyway.
“Then … ” She stopped. “Will you want me there when you go home?”
“That’s what I was hoping.” Like he’d leave her behind completely. That wasn’t something he was likely to do. “Like you said, though. Take the time to think about it, and let me know what you think.”
A cacophony of thoughts rattled in Summer’s head, all of them trying to jump out of her mouth at once. She opened her mouth, closed it, opened it again.
“I feel like I’ve missed something here. Stop me if I’m jumping to conclusions here, but it sounds like,” she paused, trying to still the butterflies doing mad tangos in her middle, “like you’re asking me to move in with you. Basically.” She stepped back a little, trying to look at his face. “It’s a bit … I mean, this is just the first time we’ve kissed. So, you know, the signals are very mixed. Robert?”
