Feeling for a moment like he was hovering outside of the scene, like the closeness was constricting him, he pulled back.  ”I only mean that, it would be easier with your permission, of course.  But either way…” he gave her a sideways smile.  By the nine, how was he going to dig himself out of this one?

This time Summer couldn’t hold back her laugh. “Oh, of course. Darling madman.” She turned him loose, smiling still. “I’m tired, okay? I’m a lightweight, and I want to lie down and sleep. So come on if you’re coming.”

“Yes,” he replied simply, and trailed after her, enjoying her silhouette as she walked.  There would be time for plans and escapes and mischief of all kinds, but for now, he was also growing tired, his head heavy and full of nameless thoughts. 

Her gear wasn’t complicated; a few blankets, some nonperishable snack foods, an electric lantern. Summer shook out several of the thicker blankets and spread them on the ground, then offered Loki one. When he took it, she settled down on the padding herself, leaving half of it to him.
