She swatted at him, giggling and dripping. “I’m fine! Put me down.” She swept her hands through the water, dashing it up at him, and slid out of his hands, plunging back into the waves like some kind of mermaid.
Watching her with wide-eyed wonder, he obediently lowered her back into the water and took a step back, humming in contentment as the waves lapped around his ankles. “This is amazing, Summer. Thank you for bringing me here.”
She hardly even heard him over the sound of the waves rolling in to shore, wading deeper and deeper. Turning sideways to meet the larger waves, she shrieked and laughed every time one hit her, and grinned back at Isaac. “Come on,” she shouted. “Come and get me!”
