Bewildered, she glanced around. “Wh-what more should be done?” Would he insist on sleeping somewhere other than the ground? The fire would keep most of the wild animals away, and this forest was not so dangerous — it might be named the Wolf Forest, but the wolves mostly stayed away from humans.
“Well….I have some mats and blankets, but that’s about it. I wasn’t intending to have a passenger, but you can have my share and I’ll brave the elements. I’ve suffered worse.” He flashed her a grin and stretched, before his expression softened and he locked eyes with her. “Would it comfort you to have a weapon?”
“I think I have one,” she blurted, looking at him. “We could … we could share the blankets?” She didn’t mention that not only was she more than used to sharing a bed, but having more than one blanket would be a luxury for her.
