“You seemed so impressed,” she said sullenly. “As if you didn’t think I would be capable of surviving in the forest without you.”

“I was more impressed that you’d actually listened to me. And perhaps not as you’ve not had the same training that I have, but you’re far more resourceful than I give you credit for,” Sir Isaac stated softly and leaned back to close his eyes. “And plus, if anyone can survive the forest alone, it’s you.”

Summer sniffed and curled up in a small ball as far away from him as she could get. She slid easily into sleep, but as the night passed the air chilled, and she began to shiver, curling up even tighter.
