“You have taken me away from there,” Summer murmured. “So long as you don’t leave me, I think I have nothing to fear. I will tell your liege lord that I came willingly, and there will be no one to contest my word.”

“I will never leave you,” he vowed solemnly and reached out to pat her gently on the back of her hand, before his expression softened. “And I would never hurt you — you have my word too, on that. And if that’s what you want…then thank you, Summer.”

“My knight.” Her eyes flicked between his gaze and his lips, and her breath came shallowly, before she leaned forward to kiss him lightly once again.
