She shook her head, stroking her fingertips down his cheek. “Where you come from, it is obviously very different. In the land of the Argents, a knight may do as he likes, so long as he has force of arms to enforce it. His rank sets him above the laws which govern the lower classes. Lord Argent’s knights would cheer you on, and doubtless bargain with you for the use of my body when you are finished.”

He swayed at her words, features twisting in a grimace as she continued, actually looking a little faint at the pictures in his mind. “That may be true for other Knights, but not me. I would never do that to you, to anybody…it’s not right to treat anybody like that, no matter their class or gender…” He felt sick and ducked his head, jaw clenching with barely repressed rage.

“You have taken me away from there,” Summer murmured. “So long as you don’t leave me, I think I have nothing to fear. I will tell your liege lord that I came willingly, and there will be no one to contest my word.”
