She curled down into his arms, perching on his knee to tangle her fingers, in turn, into his hair. They clung so close together nothing could come between them, like one body and two souls, yet their very closeness was provoked by the thing that would rip them apart.
Tugging her closer so that there was not even an inch of space able to wriggle in between their chests and hips, Isaac crushed her body to his, shaking with sadness as he peppered kisses across her face once more. He wanted this moment to last forever, for time to stay where it was, so that he’d never have to let her go.
After long moments of kisses exchanged, she slipped to her feet, taking his hands. Before he could protest she was drawing him to his bedroom and down to the bed. She blew out all the candles but two, on the far side of the room, and came back to stand between his knees and kiss him again.
