“I was so alone,” she whispered back, stroking his face. She ran her thumb over his mouth. “I thought there would be people here who wanted me, but my sister left, I never see my mother or my father — I have no friends here. I never stopped thinking about you. About everyone.
“But especially you. Say you still love me.”
“Will…will you come away with me, Summer? I wanted to just take you now, but I’m scared..your father especially wouldn’t take kindly to that after taking so long to find you…” Isaac whispered and parted his lips, pressing a tender kiss to her thumb as he smiled. “I love you, Summer, so much.”
She pulled back a little, startled. “Isaac, you’ve won. Don’t you realise? You’ve won! My father will expect us to wed, and you’ll be his heir.” She faltered, a slight frown creasing her eyebrows, and searched his face again. “D-do you not want to be married to me?”
