“Oh,” He rolled his eyes, but forced a short smile on his lips in that same second. “I know, she’s quite beautiful.”
She turned a faintly sceptical gaze on him. “You didn’t look impressed. You looked annoyed.” Deliberately, then, she scanned him up, and down, lingering only briefly on the hook. “You’re very handsome, yes.”
“You don’t know me yet, darling. Don’t you try to read my mind or eyes, huh?” He blinked an eye with his ironic tone on the voice and then crossed his arms over the chest, arching an eyebrow as he was studying that woman. “What are you doing here? On my ship?”
Summer’s mouth twisted. The same. Always the same, always people complained of being read the most when they were most transparent. She pressed her lips together briefly, then said, “I was looking for a ship. And a ship’s captain.”
