He watched her as she circled behind him, wings lowering so he he could see over them. They twitched upwards when she set her hand between them, and one side of his mouth curled in a fought back smile.
…Skydance? What even. Well, only one way to find out. “Then I guess you’d best be quick,” he said, folding his wings in close again so he could turn to face her without smacking her with one on accident.
“You’ll see me if you look, Tony. I shan’t be long.” With efficient motions she packed up her gear, sweeping a protesting Helios up into a shoulder carry. He waved his tail at Tony as they went past, blue eyes pleading. Just about five minutes later she launched herself upward from her fire escape, flame wings flaring out behind her.
Well, that was definitely easy enough to spot. His wings spread to their full length once more, and his take off was considerably more graceful than his landing. He flew in an upwards spiral for a few moments, stretching his wings out because this still didn’t feel remotely normal, before he evened out into a straight line to meet her.
Back-winging a touch, Summer came to a hover and waited for Tony to catch up, reaching for his hand when she did. His wingspan was incredible, and the sunlight pulled brilliant red highlights out of his feathers. “Tony, you look amazing. How do you feel?”
