Pepper rolled over to sit up, her face gone all pink again.  ”That was the secret.”  Her hands twisted together in her lap as she smiled down at her knees.  Her breathing had gone all funny.  ”Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt—” and then she did again, glancing over at Loki.  ”Really?  With my freckles and everything?”

Loki leaned forward, feeling as if his mind wasn’t in control of his body. His hand, shaking slightly, touched her cheek.

”Especially the freckles,” he said. To Loki, his voice didn’t sound like himself. He sounded a lot more confident, more calm, than he felt.

Pepper’s blush deepened, her chin ducking down toward her chest.  A tremulous smile grew on her face, and when Loki touched her cheek, she closed her eyes and tipped her head against his fingers.

The hand slid down to her chin, two fingers resting underneath her jaw. His brain was numb, a ball of cloud inside his head while his body seemed to move on it’s own accord. Loki felt himself lean forward, his face just millimetres away from Pepper’s as he raised her head up. His green eyes took her in, marking the flecks in her eyes, the individual hairs in the loose strand that fell across her temple. With his lips barely hovering over her skin, Loki drew a soft breath through his mouth, almost tasting the sweet smell of her.

[omg so fsking cuuuuuuuute. Go Loki!]
