Buttons was clearly familiar with the place, stopping underneath the largest of the trees and tugging down against the reins. Summer laughed, twisting to look all around before looking back at Isaac. “I don’t know how to swim,” she confessed, abashed. She waited for him to dismount before putting her hands out to catch at his shoulders and be lifted down.
“You don’t? Well, would you like me to teach you?” he offered as he elegantly slid off of the back of Buttons, landing on the ground with a light thump, before reaching up to catch her. “Or we could simply lay in the shallow part, I don’t particularly mind either way.”
“No,” she said as he lifted her down, “that’s not what I want you to teach me.” She looked up through her eyelashes at him, falling in love all over again, and linked her arms around his neck. Tugging down just enough, she kissed him firmly.
