She finally seemed to realise she was staring, and ducked her head again, playing with the comb. “No,” she whispered. She should be angry with him, she realised dimly, but it was impossible when he smiled like that. 

“Call me stupid, but I think I’m starting to like you, Summer. You’re not like any of the other girls I know, and I don’t know many,” Isaac offered up, before standing up and padding across to Buttons, storing away the leftover bread and cheese before closing the bag. “We should set up camp before night falls completely — do you know what to do?”

Bewildered, she glanced around. “Wh-what more should be done?” Would he insist on sleeping somewhere other than the ground? The fire would keep most of the wild animals away, and this forest was not so dangerous — it might be named the Wolf Forest, but the wolves mostly stayed away from humans.
