She blinked up at him from over the heap of tinder she’d already collected. “If my lord would deign to emerge from his no-doubt grave thoughts he would observe that I am already building a fire. Perhaps, if it’s not too much trouble, my lord could obtain a few larger branches to build up the fire with?”
“Please stop referring to me like that…it makes me uncomfortable, okay?” was all Sir Isaac muttered by way of response, before he strode off into the outskirts of the forest, returning some time later with a large armful of branches. Setting them down beside her, he moved back to Buttons and tugged off the outer layers of his armour, before seeking out the food for their meal.
Summer built up the fire slowly, watching him disarm from under lowered lids. Sir Isaac truly was a fine figure of a man, and she wished they had been able to meet under other circumstances. Or that she had been less cutting. Well, they would be stuck together for at least another day; perhaps she would be able to make it up to him somehow.
