You don’t have to tell me. I was drugged for a while because people thought my empathy was a sickness in me.

Her brows shot up in surprise, ”Oh my, that’s terrible!”

*shrugs* Well, by their lights, they were trying to do a good thing. This was while I was still trying to get a handle on shielding, you understand, and there are human illnesses that look much the same as what I was displaying. So it could have been worse, really. But … to me, it was like being wrapped in cotton. I felt — suffocated.

“I see…well in any case I am glad things are in a better situation now.”

So what about you? There a reason you’re pokin’ around in our poor mortal world now?

I don’t think it will ever change, truly. *sideways smile* After all, what is free will for? So long as they don’t try to blinker me and mine, they can honestly think what they like. It’s their loss. Sad, but true.

“Indeed,” she said with a nod. “As long as they are not infringing on the freedom of others, they have the right to be as narrow minded as they please, though when that boundary is crossed, it can be rather harmful.”

That’s what I mean about different. There are still people who don’t believe we’ve gotten off the planet! There are people who wilfully disbelieve, reject, ignore *flails hands* anything that doesn’t suit their narrow little worldview. Welcome to Midgard, Eir-chan. Welcome to Midgard.

She rose her brows at the other woman’s words, they were true, she knew from a lifetime of seeing the realms, but it was interesting to hear it from another. ”That is unfortunate, it really is. There are people like that of every creed, but I have seen it in greater masses on Midgard. Truly unfortunate, I will hope for them to change their ways and open their eyes, but that isn’t something that happens in a heartbeat I suppose.” Eir also tucked away the suffix “chan’” to the list of titles she would need to remember existed on Midgard.

Oh, I wouldn’t say completely. *smiles* Even myths are remembered, after all. I daresay you have some worshippers yet.

Eir laughed, rubbing the back of her neck, ”Oh my, well if I do personally I haven’t heard them speak my name. I don’t think they need to worship us, but it would be nice if more believe us when we told them we’re from Asgard.”

-existing fire, but if I call the fire, it’s mine and I really.

“I have met some Midgardians with rather strange powers, it still surprises me to see mortals with such talents though.”

*arches a brow* Bit of racial superiority there, m’lady?

Eir gave her a look of deep offense, all beings were equal in her eyes, so for someone to insinuate otherwise was very insulting to her, ”No. I do not consider any creed superior over another, but I have not known of mortals with such abilities for many many years, so to find them now is merely surprising.”

Oh, I think it’s fair to say we’ve had these kinds of skills for ages. You just … lost sight of us, shall we say? People who are different aren’t much admired on this world, lady; we’re not SAFE.

“I….see, Asgard and Midgard are rather different in that way. Most everyone wants to shine on Asgard, while on Midgard all different lights are looked to be snuffed out.”

Oh, we WANT to shine. But better to shine like a candle, private and shared only with friends, than be snuffed out entire. *holds up a hand contemplatively, wreathing the fingers in flame*

She nodded slowly, ”I see, on Asgard most want the largest audience possible, but that is just how it is back home. Our worlds have been disconnected for so long, we lost sight of more individual mortals, as you said, and the humans forgot us completely, shifting us into myths.”

well acquainted with differences in bodies.”

Goddess of healing. Now that could be really handy. *grins* I’m teasing. I’m an empath and pyrokinetic.

“So you can feel others’ feelings and summon fire?” she asked with a nod.

It’s a little more complex than that. I can feel others’ feelings, if I choose, and project feelings. But, um, foreign feelings build up in me. Like a … toxin. If I don’t purge them somehow, I have really strong muscle spasms. But, it turns out, I can use the emotions, mine or other peoples’, to fuel fire. Called fire. It’s weirdly specific. I can’t do anything with pre-existing fire, but if I call the fire, it’s mine and I can do anything I like with it. *calls her wings into existence* Like this.

Eir took in the information and her eyes widened in surprise at the girl’s actions, ”Oh my…that is very interesting. I’ve never heard of such talents, but they are rather fascinating!”

There are lots of people on Midgard with … interesting talents. As far as I can tell, mine happens to be a weird fusion of my psychic power with my ability for magic. *dismisses the wings* Compared to some of the other folk around here, I’m … pretty normal, really.
