Isaac rolled his eyes when he heard maid. Does her maid have to do everything? he thought and gritted his teeth. “It seems I am now your bodyguard.” He let out a sigh in annoyance, all royals were snobbish and made people do things for them. “Talk about bad luck.” he mumbled, making sure Summer didn’t hear him.

Isaac noticed Summer examining him, was it because he was already in armor? He looked down at himself and looked back up at the other. “Well, don’t you have duties to do and it’s no good for you to sleep in.” he replied.

Her jaw dropped. “You’re my — no. Absolutely not. Whose stupid idea was that? My father’s? No.” Summer threw off the coverlets and made for the door, disregarding the fact that she was about to go tearing down the halls of the castle in her nightdress. “I refuse to have a bodyguard — much less /you/. Arrogant, stupid, obnoxious, overbearing — !”

“What! The hell! Is going on! Here?!” a voice roared, and she veered and shot into the room.

“Father! I don’t need a bodyguard. What do I need with a bodyguard?” Summer folded her arms and glared petulantly at her father.

“There’s been an increase in banditry, the lands to the north of us are at war, and until I find someone who will take you you’re my heir. This is not up for debate.”

“I refuse!”

Her father ignored her.

Isaac was confused when the other looked angry. See this is exactly what he meant, she thinks she’s too good for a bodyguard. Also she wouldn’t stop pointing out his flaws, when she clearly had some flaws herself. He followed her with an annoyed look on his face. He watched her and her farther argue back and forth. He sighed with annoyance and finally blurted out, “It’s not like I chose to be your bodyguard. I could care le-” Isaac cut himself off seeing that no good would come from saying that since he’s talking to royals.

Her father glanced at Isaac, frowning slightly, then returned his attention to his daughter. “You will have a guard at your side at all times when you are outside your rooms. Without exception. Unless he fails in his duties somehow, that guard will be Sir Isaac.” He turned back to his books, clearly completely done with the conversation.

Summer stared at him for a moment, before looking at Isaac. Her jaw clenched, before she squared her shoulders and marched out of the room. Once outside, she faced him and said, quietly, “Don’t interfere in what I’m doing, and I won’t try to evade you.”

Isaac barged into Summer’s room, not caring about the guards, maid-servant, or her sleeping in her bed. He went over to the window and pulled back the curtains, allowing the sun to shine bright into the spacious room. He headed over to Summer’s bed, stood right by her, and tapped his foot impatiently. He rolled his eyes and let out a big sigh. “My lady, you have been asleep far too long now. Perha- No, you should- need to wake up. Now!” he barked impatiently as his foot tapping quickened.

The abrupt sound of Sir Isaac’s shouting intruded unpleasantly on Summer’s dreams. She rolled over, tangled in a web of red hair and coverlets, and frowned at him. “You,” she said, “should not be in here while I’m in this state. You should send my maid.” She meant it to sound severe, but a massive yawn in the middle rather spoiled the effect. Brushing as much of her hair out of her face as she could, Summer frowned up at the curly-haired young knight. “Why must I wake up?”

She wondered if he even had any idea how she had tumbled, exhausted, into bed in the darkest hours of the night after sitting up with Cook’s smallest daughter, praying the child’s fever would break. Probably not. She smothered another yawn and pushed herself upright in the bed.

She grins at him. “Oh, nowhere. Thought you might chase me.”

“Why would I chase you when you always come right back to me?”

“I might not come back? Chasing is fun? There are rewards if you catch me?” She lifts her wrist and looks at his hand. “Oh, I seem to be caught. What are you going to do with me?”

“You always come back.” Isaac watched Summer lift her wrist. “Let you go,” he replied while letting go of her wrist. “It’d be nice if you’d let me work on something, for once.”

“Oh.” Her voice was dejected, and she turned around, walking away.

“Summer! What’re yo- Uh, hi there…” Isaac was shocked when he was pinned against the wall by Summer. He looked down at her and back up when he felt her grinding against him.  This feels- Woah, what am I thinking!? Pull yourself together Isaac, he talked to himself as he was being grinded against. “Is your head on straight? What’re you doin’?”

“God, you’re so gorgeous,” Summer moaned. She had no idea someone had spiked her drink, and all she could think of was Isaac and the way he moved, the way his mouth had a perfect curve. She also had no idea she was projecting. “Please, baby, please.”

“Hey, don’t frown. You never know who could be falling in love with your smile.”

“Sweet, but the answer is no one. Hi, Isaac.”

“It’s a public pool, Isaac.” She tried to sound disapproving, instead of intrigued, and didn’t manage very well. “Now, if you know where there’s a private pool, I might be persuaded.”

“Tch, I don’t think I could ever go skinny dipping with you.” Isaac looked away and laughed. “And hey, what’s a little scar gonna do to the kids.” he joked.

Summer flinched and fell out of the jog to a walk. “Then why did you even bring it up,” she muttered.
