I’m not at my best right now either. But. Something I can help with? Maybe if I help you I’ll quit kicking myself, hey?

“Kicking yourself?” Lex furrowed her brow. “Why are you doing that anyways? I’m Lex, by the way. And help? Ooh, I don’t think so.”

“Oh, I’m annoyed that I fell victim to a greyface spell. It’s … more than a little disruptive, right now. My name is Summer.”

“Well, I’ve gone from San Francisco to New York. I am originally from Camelot.”

“That’s a long way! You must be tired. Why so much — CAMELOT. You said CAMELOT.” Her hands flew to her mouth. “Ah, should I have … curtseyed instead?”

He gave her a questioning look. “I did say Camelot. Is that a surprise?”

“You … seem really comfortable here. So I guess it is a surprise.” She managed a shaky laugh. “Hon, to us you’re a legend.”

“I’m not really comfortable… I’m really homesick.” He shrugged. “What do you mean by a legend?”

Summer blinked. “So /that’s/ what that is. Curious,” she murmured. Her fingers flexed, and her wings rustled along with the flexion. “I mean that you’re about two thousand years out of time, Arthur.”

“So I’ve heard.” He sighed. “No offense to the people who live here, but I hate it here.”

“Something I can do about that?” Summer projected just a little sense of ease, a little relaxation, holding out a hand. “Too many people? Too much technology? Or just too loud?”

[just say where to stop!]

Her answering laugh was breathless and choked. “Just give me a minute. I’d forgot there was that scene in there.” She laid her face against the wall. “Sorry, sorry. I just … sorry.”

[okay! thank you!]

Tom looked to the screen, smiling a bit more. “Ah, no no, my apologies!” He excused himself, moving back to where he sat down. Being back down next to the pile of pillows, he looked back at Summer to see if she was still there, and back to the screen where he still looked to word every single line there was from memory.

Summer’s shoulders slumped. What on earth was she doing? A man like this, easily let into her home; she knew perfectly well what it was going to do to her.

Running her fingers back through her hair, she slumped down into the pillows again, trying not to let the old familiar pain and self-doubt show on her face. “Tell me again, what’s going on here?”

I think you should let me be the judge of that. *sticks tongue out cutely*

Uhm. Well. Uhh. Okay?

Why don’t you tell me a little bit about you?

Okay? Uhh, what do you want to know?

/Everything./ Where do you live, what your favourite colour is, what your special talents are …  everything.

Well, I live here in Asgard, in the Inner Town. My favourite colour is…well, that’s actually a good question. I suppose I never decided on one. You know, with the Bifrost ever-present and all that, all colours are considered rather important. As far as special talents? I don’t have very many regular talents, let alone special ones. My most remarkable talent would probably be reading.

Hey, don’t sell yourself short, chiya. Reading is a useful thing, and I bet it means you have all kinds of useful information stored in that pretty head of yours. Besides, I like to read too.

So, Asgard, huh? What’s that like?

Well, now. A kitty … with an arc reactor? *offers a finger for sniffing* You must be acquainted with Tony then.

-sniffs her finger- Meow. [That’s right.]

So … can I pick you up? Get you anything? I’d take you home, well my home, but I’m not sure my four would get along with you. *scritches at kitty’s chin*

“I have met some Midgardians with rather strange powers, it still surprises me to see mortals with such talents though.”

*arches a brow* Bit of racial superiority there, m’lady?

Eir gave her a look of deep offense, all beings were equal in her eyes, so for someone to insinuate otherwise was very insulting to her, ”No. I do not consider any creed superior over another, but I have not known of mortals with such abilities for many many years, so to find them now is merely surprising.”

Oh, I think it’s fair to say we’ve had these kinds of skills for ages. You just … lost sight of us, shall we say? People who are different aren’t much admired on this world, lady; we’re not SAFE.

“I….see, Asgard and Midgard are rather different in that way. Most everyone wants to shine on Asgard, while on Midgard all different lights are looked to be snuffed out.”

Oh, we WANT to shine. But better to shine like a candle, private and shared only with friends, than be snuffed out entire. *holds up a hand contemplatively, wreathing the fingers in flame*
