“Promise,” she whispered. She held on to the seat with both hands, digging her nails in as the spasms came and went. She wanted to curse Jesse for causing this, but it was hard to be angry at him when she knew all too clearly how he felt. She still didn’t understand the cause, but she knew how he felt. By the time they got to her apartment, she had her eyes closed against the pain of abused muscles.

Sighing with relief although cringing as he smelt the pain and panic drifting off of her in waves, Isaac slowly pressed his foot down on the accelerator, speeding up in his desperation to get her home and out of this car. And finally, they were there, and without any hesitation, he pulled the keys out of the ignition and hopped out of the car, moving around her side to pull her out into his arms once more.

She sagged against him in relief, knees shaking and refusing to hold her up. Helios emerged from the cat door, twining around Isaac’s feet and meowing like he believed that would help. It was clear he knew something was wrong with his momma.

“I n-never let you s-see it bef-fore,” she corrected. “It’s a k-kind of sei-seizure, y-yeah. C-can we not t-talk about it h-here?” She wanted to lie down so badly, where the seat belt didn’t compress her when the big muscles in her back clenched.

“But we will talk about it? Please, Summer…” he begged her then, before frowning at her obvious discomfort and he quickly moved to insert the key into the ignition and soon, the car was rolling steadily out of the parking lot. “Won’t be long, okay?”

“Promise,” she whispered. She held on to the seat with both hands, digging her nails in as the spasms came and went. “N-no hospital.” Her tone was as firm as she could make it. “Th-this is norm-normal.” The hospital wouldn’t have any idea what to do with it anyway. They’d give her a muscle relaxant, which would possibly ease the tremors, but wouldn’t do a thing for the cause, and there was no explaining the cause to a nurse. Sometimes it helped if she could relax and just let the convulsion flow through her, not try to fight it, but she was afraid of Isaac’s reaction and that just made it worse.

“…Normal? You’re sure? You’ve never acted like this in front of me before…” he murmured dubiously and twisted to face her fully, car keys dangling from his pinky finger whilst it was clear that he wouldn’t move until he was satisfied with her answer. “Did…was it some kind of seizure? Did that freak say something and set you off?”

“O-on the car!” It felt like every bone in her body was shaking, now, and she just wanted it to stop. “I kn-know. It’s-it’s a n-natural rea-reaction.” She gripped her wrists more tightly together and concentrated on breathing. It wouldn’t help, but it would stop making it worse with her own fear. She felt like she was going to throw up, though.

He nodded and carried her across the parking lot, hoisting her to one side and balancing her as he fumbled with the keys, sighing with relief as he heard the click to signify that the door had opened. Navigating her into the passenger side and buckling her up, he pressed a kiss to her forehead and ran off to get the bike, fixing it to the car and returning to the seat beside her, exhaling a deep breath. “Feeling okay? Do we need to stop at the hospital?”

“Th-there’s a bike rack,” she said, carefully through the increasing muscle tremors. She put her arms around his neck and clamped her wrists together. “I cli-clip the keys to the outside, silly.” Her words were a little slurred, even as she said, “I’m n-not h-hurt.”

“By the front entrance to the school?” He was quick to confirm with her, not liking the idea of leaving his beloved bike otherwise unattended whilst he helped take her home. He knew that he’d be staying over with her, checking her repeatedly and constantly begging her to let him heal her. “You’re shaking, Summer! Something’s wrong!”

“Y-your bike,” she mumbled, the quiver in her voice already betraying how close she was to the edge. She hadn’t expected it, hadn’t been shielded, and now the violent energy of two furious men was driving through her body. “Keys. On my purse.” She bit her lip on a cry as a muscle in the back of her thigh clenched hard.

“I’ll throw it in the trunk or something, or come back for it later — that doesn’t matter, Summer. We need to get you home,” he said firmly and kissed her on the cheek once more, scooping her up into his arms as he rummaged through her purse. “Are you okay? Do you need me to heal you?”

That took Jesse aback. “Fine,” he bluffed, trying to keep his angry face even though it was clear fear was replacing it. “Be her slave. Just remember I tried to help you. I tried to warn you.” He backed away, hands held up as if that would make them believe he hadn’t meant any harm.

Summer curled herself tightly around Isaac, shuddering. She wanted to believe it was over, but even though Jesse was leaving, she knew the worst was probably yet to come. Even if Isaac didn’t want to know /anything/ at all about the other boy’s allegations, she would still have to deal with the aftermath of the rage that had filled the air.

He had questions, of course he did, but right now, Summer was his main focus and he couldn’t even be bothered exhaling a sigh of relief as the other male appeared to admit defeat. He was bewildered and lost, for no introductions had been made, although it was painfully obvious that the two knew each other intimately.

“It’s okay, you’re okay,” he murmured and leaned down to kiss her on the forehead, rocking her gently as he cradled her in his arms. “Do you want me to drive you home? I figure I can work your car.”

Jesse snorted. “You /can’t/, aren’t you even listening? She took away your free will. Trust me, you don’t love that. There’s nothing there to love; she just wants a fuck.”

Summer just turned her face into Isaac’s abdomen, desperately wishing it would all just stop. “Why do you hate me so much?” she whispered, knowing he wouldn’t hear her.

“We’ve not done that yet and I still love her — so what does that tell you?” He smirked knowingly and cuddled Summer to his stomach, running his fingers through her hair and hoping that the gesture comforted her, even a little bit. “Now go — or I really will be forced to do something that I regret. Or not, but I really don’t want to be arrested for murder again.”

Abruptly, Jesse was in her face, grabbing her shoulders and shaking her until her head wobbled. “Let him go, you bitch, let him go, I’ll fucking knock you out if you don’t let him go.” She flailed at him, helplessly, trying to pry his hands off her. She didn’t even have a moment to savor Isaac’s words.

“If I could do that,” she gasped, “don’t you think I’d be keeping you off me?”

“I’m immune,” he ground out.

“You’re crazy.”

Equally abruptly, he let her go, shoving her to the ground. Jesse turned to Isaac. “You don’t love her, kid. She put you under a spell, she’s making you think you love her. Get away from her, it’ll fade.”

Isaac snarled loudly and in warning, uncaring about what the other male thought of such a reaction as long as he backed off of her. “Let her go — I won’t tell you again,” he demanded in a hiss, nails elongating and curling as he made a partial shift, fighting the urge to simply tackle him to the ground.

And then she fell and he ran to her, human once more as he gathered her into his arms and pillowed her head on his lap, eyes scanning her for injuries. As he placed a hand over hers to heal any aches and pains caused by the other male, he lifted his eyes and arched an eyebrow. “Let me be the judge of that?”

Jesse snorted. “You /can’t/, aren’t you even listening? She took away your free will. Trust me, you don’t love that. There’s nothing there to love; she just wants a fuck.”

Summer made a pain sound, trying to pull away from both of them. “You’re hurting me.”

“Good,” Jesse hissed. “Hurt you like you hurt me, like you’re hurting him. She took away your free will, did you know that, kid? Whatever you’re feeling now, it’s her. It’s not you. She’s making you.” He sidled around, grabbing at Summer again. “Let him go. Stop controlling him!”

He flinched then at her whimper, letting go and gazing down at his hands with horror. He was just like his father – but at this moment in time, he had to protect Summer from the threat, and later on, he could worry over that previous revelation.

“I love her!” He blurted out then, uncaring that it was the first time he’d said them aloud and in a public setting nonetheless. “And nothing you could say could convince me otherwise!”

Abruptly, Jesse was in her face, grabbing her shoulders and shaking her until her head wobbled. “Let him go, you bitch, let him go, I’ll fucking knock you out if you don’t let him go.” She flailed at him, helplessly, trying to pry his hands off her.
