Erica couldn’t help but to laugh as Summer smacked straight into a lamp post. “Oh my god, are you ok?” She was giggling as she walked over to her and put her arms around her shoulder.
“Why don’t you want him to know, Summer? You don’t think he would like you if he knew it was you? He totally would. But I suppose the secrecy must be kinda sexy.” She grinned at her.
She blew out a breath. “Nobody ever liked me back at my old school, okay, Erica? I don’t want to take the risk. I don’t want him to laugh at me with my pitiful little hopes.” Summer shrugged uncomfortably. “Why would anyone ever look at me with you there, anyway? You’re lots prettier and more exciting than I am.”
“Hey, Summer, you didn’t see me before I got wolfed up. Nobody liked or even noticed me. And even now, the one guy that I want to notice me still won’t.” She let out a small sigh as she gave Summer a half smile. “I know Isaac and he would never laugh at you, if he likes you I think you should go for it.”
“He’s kind of still wound up in Lydia, who is still all about Aiden,” Summer commented, about Stiles. “You see what I mean? He probably likes someone else, and I’m just … I’m not gonna be — I can’t, I just can’t. He knows someone likes him and that’s all it’s gonna be.” She made pretend wolfy claws at Erica. “What the hell was up with that anyway? I don’t even get it. Why should being, you know, bitten make so much difference to you?”
Erica couldn’t help but to laugh as Summer smacked straight into a lamp post. “Oh my god, are you ok?” She was giggling as she walked over to her and put her arms around her shoulder.
“Shhhh!” She tried to clamp a hand over Erica’s mouth. “Shhh! He doesn’t know. He doesn’t know it’s me. Okay? Nobody knows it’s me. I thought you liked him.”
“Why doesn’t he know it’s you? You thought I liked him? Hello? I’ve only had a thing for Stiles since the third grade … Isaac’s more like a dorky older brother to me … why doesn’t he know it’s you?”
“Erica!” Summer wailed. “Shhhh someone might hear you!” Though who, she didn’t know. It was just embarrassing, for no reason. “He doesn’t know it’s me because I haven’t told him! It’s a secret IM name I got just to talk to him. I don’t want him to know.”

“Because, I asked if it was a boy and you said yes..Ok so he’s in our year. Is he…supernatural?” She figured that the answer would be no but she had to ask.
“Argh, I’m so bad at this.” Summer facepalmed briefly. “Yes. Yes he is. I should’ve just told you, because you already know all the right questions to ask.”
Erica scanned her mind through all the possible candidates before she gasped. “Oh my god it’s Isaac! You like Isaac! Aww, that’s so cute. You guys would be so cute together!” Erica was so excited.
“Shhhh!” She tried to clamp a hand over Erica’s mouth. “Shhh! He doesn’t know. He doesn’t know it’s me. Okay? Nobody knows it’s me. I thought you liked him.”

“Hey, no fair. Ok..is he in our year?” She figured this would be a good place to start; she had no idea who Summer even hung out with apart from the pack, and she figured that it couldn’t be someone from the pack.
Summer drawled, “Life’s not fair. Yes.” She grinned again. “What makes you so sure it’s a boy? Maybe I’m a lesbian.”

“Cause I have animal instincts.” She grinned. “So who was it, anyone I know?” She wanted to know what guy in town could have captured Summer’s interests so much.
Aww, hell. She should have told him she was busy today, and not succumbed to the lure of chatting to him all day. “I’m not telling, you have to guess,” she said instead, tossing her hair and waggling her eyebrows at Erica.

“A friend huh? A boy?” She raised her eyebrows at Summer as she looked over at her. “A boy that you like?”
Summer made a face at Erica. “Why do you have to be so damn perceptive?” Then she stuck out her tongue and shoved the phone into her back pocket.

“Ngh,” Summer managed, rubbing her forehead with one hand and clutching her phone with the other. “It moved. It jumped in front of me, I swear.”
“No, it was there the whole time, you were just preoccupied with your phone. Who are you texting anyway? You haven’t looked away from it for the whole day.”
“Uh,” she started, and turned the phone’s screen away from Erica. “Just a friend.” How could she tell Erica it was Isaac? That would be awful.
