Mordred grunts, his eyes fluttering open after a few seconds and he smiles. “Good morning” he mutters, moving into a sitting position “you didn’t have to.”
His words spark another foolish worry in her mind. She doesn’t even know why she’s fretting over this so much, except that nagging feeling in the back of her mind that won’t let her alone. “What if it’s not you? I don’t want to go with some other knight escorting me.”
”Ask for me,” he tells her simply.
She laces her fingers with his, hurrying to keep up with his long stride. “Do you think he’ll know? About us? He might … forbid you from seeing me.”
“I can’t even /imagine/ why.” She made sure to fill her tone with sarcasm. Here it was again. After twenty years, you would think she’d figure out how to cope with this, but no. No, she just had to keep telling people, expecting them to deal with it well.
She sighed and spun her chair around from the computer fully. “I mean, I could hear you in my head. What you were feeling. Remember the Hallowe’en party? That’s how I knew you were with Merlin, before I’d ever even met either of you before. I’m an empath.” Folding her arms, she nodded toward the kitchen. “The liquor’s in the cabinet over the stove, if you need some.”
Mordred grunts, his eyes fluttering open after a few seconds and he smiles. “Good morning” he mutters, moving into a sitting position “you didn’t have to.”
“Important to you, maybe, not to anyone else, ever.” Summer sneaks her hand into his, needing the comfort.
He smiles, lifting her hand up to his lips, kissing it gently. “They will think it important, tell him you have family issues but Dover isn’t exactly the safest of places and you request an escort.”

She rolled her eyes at him. “I didn’t /see/ anything. I’ve been right here writing code for the last four hours. And I’m not on drugs, either. D’you mind, not suggesting I’m on crack?”
Mordred grunts, his eyes fluttering open after a few seconds and he smiles. “Good morning” he mutters, moving into a sitting position “you didn’t have to.”
She sighs, and shrugs, and looks away. “It’s not much of a cause. A strange girl and a funny feeling.”
“Still something important none-the-less.”

“So once again there’s something you aren’t telling me, since obviously he’s no reason to think you are lying.” She’s not at all angry, just amused. There’s something about the way he reacts sometimes, when she pokes him.
He looks down at her. “No, this time I am not hiding anything from you. This cause would sound more real if you asked.”
She sighs, and shrugs, and looks away. “It’s not much of a cause. A strange girl and a funny feeling.”
