Send me a " ○ " for my character's reaction to finding yours sitting outside in the rain, upset and crying

Erica was wet and cold. The one day she’d decided to walk to school, the weather had freakishly decided to turn in the middle of the day and bucket down with rain. She reached her front yard when she saw her red haired friend sitting on the doorstep in tears. “Summer? Sweetie, what’s wrong?” She ran over to her and embraced her in a hug, pulling the girl’s head into her shoulder to try and comfort her. She hated seeing Summer sad and she would do anything to make whatever was making her cry go away.

“Trust me about the others. Wolf senses can tell everything. I’m practically psychic.” She grinned at her, trying to lighten her mood slightly. “Ok hun, you want me to walk back to the school with you right? Tomorrow is good, we can go over with Scott, he has a shift tomorrow.”

Summer couldn’t help laughing at Erica’s assertion of psychism. “Earth to you, girl, I /am/ psychic.” She shook her head, grinning. “Let me get my clothes. Tell Scott at lunch?”

“Sounds like a plan.” She waited for Summer to collect her things and then walked down to the front door with her, thankful that the rain had stopped. “Are we driving or walking?”

“Driving. I should probably not dawdle, I bet I get a text from mom on the way home as it is.” ‘Or they might just send Winter after me and that would be embarrassing … ’ “I’ll bring your clothes back tomorrow.”

“I know you’re scared Summer, believe me, I know what it’s like to have something inside of you that you can’t control. But we’re going to get through this together. You’re not going to lose anyone. We all love you so much and we’d never push you away.”

“You love me,” Summer said quietly. “I’m not so sure about the others right now.” She sighed again, and looked up at Erica. “I should probably go home now. I guess we’ll go over to Dr Deaton’s tomorrow after school?”

“Trust me, Summer. You aren’t even at the top of the list for weird things in this town. You worry too much, you know that?” She didn’t understand why Summer was always so down on herself. Sure, what had just happened was a lot to take in but that was no reason to condemn herself or her relationship with Isaac.

Summer unwound herself from Erica’s hug and went back into the bathroom, rubbing her face with cold water. “I’m just really, really scared,” she muttered. “I don’t understand what’s happening.” She looked back at Erica. “You guys are the first real friends I’ve had in a long time. I’m terrified of losing that.”

The girl wasn’t making any sense and Erica raised an eyebrow at her. “Do you want to go see Deaton now? I figured you’d want to wait until tomorrow. I’ll go with you back to school to get your car when you want to go.” She smiled at Summer and sat down on her bed.

“I just … I don’t want to do this alone, okay?” She rubbed her hands over her face. “I’m really scared, Erica. I don’t want to be alone, I don’t — ” She swallowed hard, then whispered, “How am I going to tell Isaac?”

“You’re not going to be alone, ok, I promise I will stay with you through all of this.” Erica pulled Summer into her arms and hugged her tightly. She kissed her forehead softly, she was her best friend and she wasn’t going to let anything bad happen to her. “Isaac is not going to judge you, he is a werewolf that used to get locked in a freezer.”

That brought a broken laugh from Summer. “What a contrast. The girl with spontaneous combustion and a boy who was locked in a freezer. He’ll hate me.” She fought back a second bout of tears.

Erica laughed as Summer inspected the shirt. “It’s not that bad, are you trying to call me fat?” she teased before walking back into her bedroom, the red head following behind. “Did you want to stay over tonight or I can drop you home if you want?”

Summer stuck out her tongue at Erica. “I’m calling you busty, Lady MacBoobs. Some of us are A-cups. I drove from school, and mom and dad will worry if I just decide to stay somewhere overnight. But thanks anyway.” She pursed her lips for a minute, looking down at her hands. “When — I mean, how — I, um, about Dr Deaton? By myself?”

Erica had changed into sweatpants and an old tee shirt when she heard Summer call her name. She’d picked out a tee shirt and sweatpants for Summer too, the pants being slightly too short for Erica. She walked over to the bathroom to see Summer. “Yeah?”

“Should I just come out in a towel?” She peeked out the door. “Oh, you’re right there.” Taking the clothes, she pulled them on and checked herself in the mirror again, unwinding her hair from the bun. Then she opened the door and announced, “I’m swimming in the fabric, but this shirt makes a great dress, don’t you think?”

“You wouldn’t look terrible in my clothes, it’s impossible to look terrible in my clothes. You can take a shower too, I’ll just go get you out a towel.” Erica smiled over at her and headed towards the linen closet.

“In case you hadn’t noticed, you’re a lot more curvy than I am, and taller,” she pointed out. Summer slipped into the bathroom and made a face at her soggy appearance.

“So, you are still super hot Summer, I don’t understand why you can’t see that.” Erica picked up a towel and then handed it to Summer before closing the door. “I’m just gonna go get changed, ok?”

“What does my relative hotness have to do with you being taller than I am?” Summer muttered. “Your clothes won’t fit.” She turned the water on full hot and pulled her damp shirt off, then fiddled with the knobs until the water was a good temperature. She didn’t stay in long, just enough to get warmed up, and wrapped herself up in the towel. “Erica?”

Erica spun around and looked behind them into the rain. “I feel like I did know that before but somehow forgot..”

The redhead shivered, aware of how cold and wet she was now that she wasn’t totally wound up in her own personal tragedy. “Can we maybe not be in the rain? I’m /freezing/.” To punctuate her statement, she sneezed twice, and moaned, “ow.”

“Yeah, we should get inside. You can borrow some of my clothes to get warm.” She opened the door and stepped inside with the red head right behind her. Erica may not get sick because she was a wolf but that didn’t mean that Summer wouldn’t.

“It’s not your clothes I want.” Summer rubbed at her nose. “It’s your shower. I’d look terrible in your clothes, anyway.”
