Send me a " ○ " for my character's reaction to finding yours sitting outside in the rain, upset and crying

Erica was wet and cold. The one day she’d decided to walk to school, the weather had freakishly decided to turn in the middle of the day and bucket down with rain. She reached her front yard when she saw her red haired friend sitting on the doorstep in tears. “Summer? Sweetie, what’s wrong?” She ran over to her and embraced her in a hug, pulling the girl’s head into her shoulder to try and comfort her. She hated seeing Summer sad and she would do anything to make whatever was making her cry go away.

“Good, I just want to help you, ok?” She knew that Summer was still freaking out about everything but she just wanted to make sure that she’d be ok.

Summer gave a half-smile and pushed Erica gently. “I know that.” Putting her hand out from under the bare shelter of the doorway, she showed the damp palm to the blonde. “Did you know it was raining?”

Erica spun around and looked behind them into the rain. “I feel like I did know that before but somehow forgot..”

The redhead shivered, aware of how cold and wet she was now that she wasn’t totally wound up in her own personal tragedy. “Can we maybe not be in the rain? I’m /freezing/.” To punctuate her statement, she sneezed twice, and moaned, “ow.”

“Well that’s my point, we don’t know what’s happening and that’s why we should talk to the others, no one’s going to judge you they’ll just try to help.” She lifted her hand up and stroked Summer’s red hair softly. “I’ll help you get through this.”

“Yeah, okay.” She sighed sharply, and straightened her shoulders. “We can go talk to Deaton. And — and the others.”

Erica couldn’t help but to laugh when she mentioned spontaneous combustion. “Summer, whatever this is we’ll get through it together, I love you and I’m not going to leave you.”

“If I wanted you to leave I wouldn’t’ve ended up on your doorstep.” She let her tone go sarcastic a bit there at the end, but leaned her head back on Erica’s shoulder. “I just … don’t know what to do. What if I /do/ hurt someone? I don’t even know what I’m turning into.”

Erica’s eyes widened. She really shouldn’t have been that surprised that something else supernatural was happening in this town but she always thought that Summer would be able to stay out of it where it was safe. “It’s ok, Summer, I’m sure there is a reasonable explanation..well reasonable for us anyway.”

“He was — I — there was — so /angry/, Erica, so much anger.” She couldn’t even find the right words to put around what had happened; it was blurry and warped in her mind. “It went through me and there was fire. Oh god I’m a monster, I’m a monster.”

“You’re not a monster. You’re talking to a girl who grows hair on her face and tries to murder people on the full moon. If anyone’s a monster around here it’s not you. We should go talk to Deaton, ask him about what happened.”

Summer looked up at Erica, eyes widening in fear. “No, no, nonono.” She began to tremble. “Don’t make me go there, don’t make me do that. Please, just hide me, just make it go away.”

Erica moved back over to Summer and wrapped her arms around her shoulders again. “She tried to throw a desk at you, Summer. That makes her a freaking monster, not you. Anyone would lose control. I would’ve ripped her damn throat out. I still might.”

“Erica, no! Anyway, I – I mean,” she stammered, “I didn’t set it on fire with a lighter.” She gave Erica a pleading glance. “I did it with my bare hands. I don’t know what’s happening to me.”

“I — I’m a monster,” Summer sobbed, nose red, and soaked through. She didn’t know how long she’d been sitting there, crying. It was just the safest place to run to, when she was trying to run away from herself. She shivered in Erica’s embrace. “I’m a monster.”

“You’re not a monster, what on earth made you think that?” She helped Summer up and guided her inside of her house out of the rain. “My god, you’re soaked, I’ll get you some of my clothes to change into.” She decided that finding out what was wrong was more important first though. “What happened, Summer?”

“I-in Civics class … one of the other girls picked up a desk, she was going to throw it a-at me,” Summer paused to sniffle. “Only Coach stopped her … w-when I went to the bathroom to calm down,” she gulped and twisted her hands together, “Erica, I set a paper towel on fire.”

“I know, anything we do, its always fun.”

Summer gripped her hair dramatically and groaned again. “Noooooo!”

“I was kidding. Everyone does that Summer..it’s just what happens when you’re in loooove.”

“I love him so much, Erica, you don’t even know. His eyes, his hair, his smile … he has the best smile, oh my god.”

“I know, Summer. I’ve loved Stiles since I was in year 6. Trust me, I know how you feel.”

“He’s going to laugh at how pitiful I am … ” More dramatic flopping.
