Everyone had bad days, days where their minds latched onto one idea or event and refused to let go. Merlin was having one such day, and he was reaching the end of his rope. Frustration had built up until he wanted to just scream, but he couldn’t.
And therein lay the problem. No matter how much he wanted to, he couldn’t scream or whisper or do anything in between. And at that moment, he wished he could have traded something else.
Summer didn’t even bother pretending she had no idea what was going on. She just marched into Merlin’s room, hands on her hips, and pinned him with a glare. He was giving her a headache, and she couldn’t shut him out.
“You want to talk about it.”

-If I found you locked in a cell and chained to a wall, I would figure out why you were there. Then, depending on the answer, I would probably try to get you out of there.-

Oh, dear. Okay. Um. What would you wear if you didn’t have to work the king’s parties?
This. *gestures awkwardly to his current, everyday outfit* Commoners aren’t allowed to attend at all unless they’re servants tending to the nobles, so I would just be in my chambers for the night.
… we’re going to go raid Arthur’s wardrobe.
What?! *stares and shakes his head frantically* That would probably get me fired! Besides, Arthur doesn’t have anything like that. *gestures to the picture*
I know that! Ugh. Okay, okay. You need your job. Okay. There’s places that rent suits. We can do that. *grabs his hand and pulls*

Ignoring the fact that this person looks like me… Okay, so it’s a white shirt, a black jacket—it has a weird shape to it—and… a weird tie thing that’s somehow tied into a neat bow. *sighs* The only thing I have that’s close to any of this is my black scarf.
