Summer tapped on Xavier’s door. Her bright hair was braided up and her slim figure was wrapped in a big wool cloak, with a scarf around her throat. Xavier had promised to take her ice skating once the rinks opened, and she was too excited to wait for him to notice any texts. She bounced on her toes and rapped on the door again. “Xavier! Answer the door!”
This was probably a bad idea. First because he had no idea how to ice skate and second was that he’d probably fall on his bum and Summer would tease him about it. But a promise was a promise, even if he did regret it. “I’m coming, Sum!” he called out just as he opened the door and gave her a grin. “You’re ready then?”
“Yes,” she sang out gleefully. “Where are we going? Where is your coat? Put on your coat! It’s cold, and I’m going to fall down so you have to rescue me, so put on your coat, come on, come on!” She hadn’t honestly been this excited in a while. She bounced through the door, whirled around looking for his coat, and tried to shove it on him. “Do you need gloves? Where are your gloves?” It’s possible he may need to muzzle her.
