Summer snorted, and then started laughing outright. After a minute she gasped herself to a stop and upended the box, spreading colourful threads across the floor. “Your usual colour choices are just fine, only I don’t think you want to be drawing that kind of attention to this. Tasteful, darling, for when you go to work. Bright red doesn’t go with your ties.”

“Valid point,” he agreed dryly, though he still felt the need to point out, “But if I’m wearing a tie, people probably wouldn’t be able to see it anyway.  It’d be behind my shirt collar.”  He glanced over the sprawl of colors, before he picked up a sort of pale gray-ish one.  “What about this?  Does something like this offend your sensibilities?”

“Plain black, I think.” She pulled a long tangle of black silk cord free of the pile and began to straighten it, winding it around her fingers. “Unless you want to be changing the cord to match your clothes?” She grinned and flicked the cord he was holding, then dropped a kiss on his fingers.
