She coughed some more, feeling the burn of the salts all the way down her throat. Half-perching on his leg, she rubbed at her eyes and said, “Need to get to where I can stand.” She batted his hand away, not wanting to sneeze or spit on him as she tried to get the taste out of her mouth.

“Want me to heal you?” he murmured with concern then, the amusement quickly melting out of the moment as he regarded her with narrowed eyes. Tensing at the light tap to his hands, he stepped back, wondering what was happening. “…Summer?”

She couldn’t tread water and cough, so she kept trying to balance herself on him. “Shore, please, Isaac.”

“Stiles! Stiles, I need your help!” It was okay to ask the guy you used to like for advice on the guy you liked now, right?

“Summer! Summer, what?” He asked, matching her tone. He grinned, to make it known that he was teasing.

“But I — I don’t know— how long should I wait before I call him? I don’t want to scare him off.” Summer twisted her hands together.

“Trust me, I doubt you could scare him off,” Stiles said, chuckling and shaking his head. “Seriously, Summer, just call the guy. Want me to just call him and tell him you’re interested? Maybe I should do that anyway,” he teased.

“No! Don’t do that, Stiles, please don’t do that.” She grabbed at his arm and shook it. “I’m pretty sure if he knows I’ll never see him again. He doesn’t like touch, so if I — so — besides. The last two times I was interested in someone it didn’t go so well.”

She blinked. “Um. I don’t know? I only met him the other day, and he was wearing jeans and a t-shirt then. You probably do know him, actually — he plays lacrosse? His name is Isaac.” She smiled again. “He’s so nice … “

Stiles sighed dramatically. “Yep. Isaac Lahey. I know him,” he said, shaking his head and scratching his cheek. “Well… at least you think so. That’s what counts.”

“He’s tall,” she said dreamily, “with light curly hair and blue eyes — his eyes are so sad, Stiles — and lovely long fingers. Helios found him.”

Stiles narrowed his eyes in thought for a moment. “… Does he happen to have a tendency to wear scarves and cardigans when it’s not actually cold out?”

She blinked. “Um. I don’t know? I only met him the other day, and he was wearing jeans and a t-shirt then. You probably do know him, actually — he plays lacrosse? His name is Isaac.” She smiled again. “He’s so nice … “
