“I’m invisible,” she whispered, as quietly as she could, giggling again. “Find me, darling wolf.” She crept along behind the couch, and peeked out at him, ducking back when he looked. The damp end of her braid trailed out from behind the furniture.

Suddenly grinning, he dropped onto all fours and crawled over to where he saw the braid trailing out tantalizingly, and he reached out to tug on the end. “Got you now…” He declared in a sing-song voice, laying down to sprawl out on his stomach.

She squeaked, picked up a pillow, and tried to bop him on the head with it. “Ahhhh! Nooo, I’ve been captured. What will you do with your prisoner?”

Summer made a pain sound, trying to pull away from both of them. “You’re hurting me.”

“Good,” Jesse hissed. “Hurt you like you hurt me, like you’re hurting him. She took away your free will, did you know that, kid? Whatever you’re feeling now, it’s her. It’s not you. She’s making you.” He sidled around, grabbing at Summer again. “Let him go. Stop controlling him!”

He flinched then at her whimper, letting go and gazing down at his hands with horror. He was just like his father – but at this moment in time, he had to protect Summer from the threat, and later on, he could worry over that previous revelation.

“I love her!” He blurted out then, uncaring that it was the first time he’d said them aloud and in a public setting nonetheless. “And nothing you could say could convince me otherwise!”

Abruptly, Jesse was in her face, grabbing her shoulders and shaking her until her head wobbled. “Let him go, you bitch, let him go, I’ll fucking knock you out if you don’t let him go.” She flailed at him, helplessly, trying to pry his hands off her. She didn’t even have a moment to savor Isaac’s words.

“If I could do that,” she gasped, “don’t you think I’d be keeping you off me?”

“I’m immune,” he ground out.

“You’re crazy.”

Equally abruptly, he let her go, shoving her to the ground. Jesse turned to Isaac. “You don’t love her, kid. She put you under a spell, she’s making you think you love her. Get away from her, it’ll fade.”

Only a faint giggle and a pounding heartbeat answered him. She was managing to control her breathing, but she couldn’t get her heart to slow down.

He blinked and twirled around on the spot, trying to determine where the light giggle had emitted from. Scratching at his bellybutton and placing his hands on his hips, he frowned and then headed over to peer behind the curtains. “Where are you?”

“I’m invisible,” she whispered, as quietly as she could, giggling again. “Find me, darling wolf.” She crept along behind the couch, and peeked out at him, ducking back when he looked. The damp end of her braid trailed out from behind the furniture.

The other boy sneered, the emotion contorting his handsome face. “You didn’t tell him either, did you. You just put the same spell on him that you did on me, cause it’s the only way you can get laid.” He reached out and grabbed her by the arm, pulling her out of Isaac’s hold.

“I never slept with you,” she cried. “I never did anything wrong!”

“Yeah, that’s because I figured it out before you could!” His hand was cruelly tight around her wrist. “That what you did to him, why he’s so devoted to you? Did you fuck him, bitch?”

She shook her head, red hair flying around her face. “No, nonono, no, no, no.”

Isaac regarded the scene before him with increasing horror, failing to comprehend the foul words spilling from the male’s lips and instead focusing only on Summer’s growing panic. He could hear her erratic heartbeat thumping away in her chest and he slowly pulled her back behind him, eyes darkening further.

“I think it’s best that you leave before I hurt you,” he stated lowly, dangerously; after all, he was a Lahey and they were a violent lot, apparently. “And I’d warn you not to speak to her like that ever again.”

Summer made a pain sound, trying to pull away from both of them. “You’re hurting me.”

Summer dodged sideways, into the open glass doors and past the bed. Putting the bed between the two of them, she grinned and backed slowly out of the room and into the den, where she hid behind the couch.

He was running in his human form and forcing himself to slow down in order to let her win, only speeding up when she vanished from sight. Falling in the glass door and skidding on the wooden floor, he ground a halt and scrunched his nose up, eyes scanning the room. “…Summer?”

Only a faint giggle and a pounding heartbeat answered him. She was managing to control her breathing, but she couldn’t get her heart to slow down.

“Isaac, no.” She clutched him tightly. “Just … just ignore him.”

Coincidental with her admonishment, the other person snarled, “I’m talking to you, slut. You think you’re too good to talk to me now?”

“Jesse, please don’t,” Summer pled, pulling away from Isaac a little. “I’m leaving you alone, isn’t that what you wanted?”

“I’m not going to let you fuck over other guys the way you did me,” Jesse jeered.

On the verge of tears, she protested, “I didn’t do anything!”

“I can’t…he’s a threat…” Isaac refuted lowly, angling his hand so that his fingertips brushed hers, checking that she remained close whilst his gaze remained fixated on the male before him. Each word that spilled from his lips only further increased Isaac’s rage, and it took every little bit of self-control that he possessed to try and not shift right there in the parking lot.

“Leave. Her. Alone,” he growled, slowly enunciating each word as if he were talking to a small child, gradually tightening his arms around Summer. “She told you to leave her alone — I’d listen to her if I were you.”

The other boy sneered, the emotion contorting his handsome face. “You didn’t tell him either, did you. You just put the same spell on him that you did on me, cause it’s the only way you can get laid.” He reached out and grabbed her by the arm, pulling her out of Isaac’s hold.

“Oooh, /someone’s/ a tease.” She stretched, arms over her head and back arched slightly. “Well /I/ have had enough of sand and sea for the moment. I expect if you plan to be naughty you’ll have to catch me. Again.” She shot up the beach, glancing over her shoulder with a laugh.

“I had a good teacher,” he said with a crooked smile and flicked his tongue out to wet his lips, eyes widening and roaming her contorting body. “Yeah.” He nodded absently, not really focusing on her words, more her movements as he broke off into a run, chasing after her with his arms outstretched. “Oh, I will!”

Summer dodged sideways, into the open glass doors and past the bed. Putting the bed between the two of them, she grinned and backed slowly out of the room and into the den, where she hid behind the couch.

“Oh, I was going to leave that up to you.” She wrinkled her nose a little as she stood up. She had no sympathy for his wet sand; she had it too. Wriggling her toes in the next waves, she bent and rinsed her hands off. “You were saying something about being naughty?”

“You’re cruel, you know that? But somehow, you’re still amazing.” Isaac laughed and reached around to tug at the waistband of his swim trunks, grimacing and shaking his head in exasperation. Sitting up and shaking out the fabric of his shorts then, he smiled and tilted his head to the side, casting her a playful wink. “Maybe I was, maybe I wasn’t.”
