the Tale of Sir Isaac

“Sir Kit is a coward,” she asserted. “And he won’t be able to fight any more; you crippled his sword hand. I think it will be some time before he pursues you.” She sighed. “Lord Argent has been looking for a way to attack the Hale lands my entire life. The mere fact that you maimed his son will be all the reason he needs.” She picked at the bread a little more. “Do you not have your own lands, held of the Hale prince?”

“But he has the power of many men, the power to control a whole army should he be granted it,” Sir Isaac murmured lowly and angled his head to the side to glance at her. “Not only did I maim him, but I took away what he deemed to be a reward…I am no longer a Knight, but an outlaw, a wanted criminal,” he added on then with a slight frown, clearly not entirely sure how to view such a revelation. “They offered me some but I refused on the grounds that I wasn’t their son, much to their displeasure.”

“This is not much of a life you have taken me away to,” she mused, “if I must keep running with you. Nor much of a plan.”
