She turned back slightly, ducking her head. “Then you wouldn’t be sleeping on the floor.”
“But then I might get some peace and quiet, because then you might stop picking at every little suggestion I make,” he retorted with a fond little smile, reaching out to gently curl his fingers around her wrist. “Hey now, Summer…don’t hide away…talk to me?”
She gave a soft chuckle. “First you say you wish peace and quiet, and then you wish me to talk to you.” Her smile was a little wistful. “This is the farthest I’ve ever been from home before. I’m not sure how I feel. Or what tomorrow will be like.”
