Send me a " ○ " for my character's reaction to finding yours sitting outside in the rain, upset and crying

Erica was wet and cold. The one day she’d decided to walk to school, the weather had freakishly decided to turn in the middle of the day and bucket down with rain. She reached her front yard when she saw her red haired friend sitting on the doorstep in tears. “Summer? Sweetie, what’s wrong?” She ran over to her and embraced her in a hug, pulling the girl’s head into her shoulder to try and comfort her. She hated seeing Summer sad and she would do anything to make whatever was making her cry go away.

“Well that’s my point, we don’t know what’s happening and that’s why we should talk to the others, no one’s going to judge you they’ll just try to help.” She lifted her hand up and stroked Summer’s red hair softly. “I’ll help you get through this.”

“Yeah, okay.” She sighed sharply, and straightened her shoulders. “We can go talk to Deaton. And — and the others.”

“Good, I just want to help you, ok?” She knew that Summer was still freaking out about everything but she just wanted to make sure that she’d be ok.

Summer gave a half-smile and pushed Erica gently. “I know that.” Putting her hand out from under the bare shelter of the doorway, she showed the damp palm to the blonde. “Did you know it was raining?”

Erica couldn’t help but to laugh when she mentioned spontaneous combustion. “Summer, whatever this is we’ll get through it together, I love you and I’m not going to leave you.”

“If I wanted you to leave I wouldn’t’ve ended up on your doorstep.” She let her tone go sarcastic a bit there at the end, but leaned her head back on Erica’s shoulder. “I just … don’t know what to do. What if I /do/ hurt someone? I don’t even know what I’m turning into.”

“You’re not going to set me on fire, Summer, I trust you. Our friendship is too strong that even if you freak out, you won’t hurt me, just like on a full moon I would never hurt you.”

“I wish I believed that as strongly as you do,” Summer mumbled. “I don’t have /control/ of this thing, Erica. I don’t even know how I did it or if I can do it again or if I should even /try/. Anything could happen. Maybe this is how people spontaneously combust or something.”

“I’m afraid I might hurt /you/,” Summer admitted. “I don’t even know how I did it; what if it happens every time I get upset the way the convulsions do now? I just want to be /normal/!”

“I want to be normal too. You’re not going to hurt me, I’m a werewolf, I can take care of myself, it’s you I’m worried about.” She stroked Summer’s hair softly as she held her close, trying to calm her.

She pushed away from Erica enough to glare at the blonde werewolf. “You aren’t fireproof!” she exclaimed. “It will still hurt you if I accidentally set you on /FIRE/!”

Erica continued to stroke the girl’s hair before softly pressing a kiss on her forehead. “It’s ok, Summer, you’re going to be fine. I’m not going to let anyone hurt you.” Erica was fiercely protective when it came to the people she loved and it anyone came near Summer, Erica would rip their throats out.

“You’re not going to be hunted sweetie, I don’t know how to make it stop, I don’t know what to do.” Erica tightened her grip on Summer. She hated seeing her best friend so scared and stroked her hair, trying to soothe her. She needed her to calm down or who knows what would happen with her new powers.

Summer gulped in a deep breath, holding it while she struggled to get her shields up. It felt like it took forever; like building a sand castle in the tide zone. Finally the shakes began to slow, and she sobbed out her relief in Erica’s arms.

“What? Why Summer? He can help you, no one is going to judge you, we can figure out what happened and why it happened..” She didn’t understand why Summer was so reluctant but she pulled her close and hugged her tightly.

“I don’t want to be hunted,” she sobbed. The tremors grew worse, muscles in her legs jumping. Summer clutched her arms around herself, tensing in every limb in a futile effort to stop shaking. “Make it stop, Erica.”

“He was — I — there was — so /angry/, Erica, so much anger.” She couldn’t even find the right words to put around what had happened; it was blurry and warped in her mind. “It went through me and there was fire. Oh god I’m a monster, I’m a monster.”

“You’re not a monster. You’re talking to a girl who grows hair on her face and tries to murder people on the full moon. If anyone’s a monster around here it’s not you. We should go talk to Deaton, ask him about what happened.”

Summer looked up at Erica, eyes widening in fear. “No, no, nonono.” She began to tremble. “Don’t make me go there, don’t make me do that. Please, just hide me, just make it go away.”

Erica’s eyes widened. She really shouldn’t have been that surprised that something else supernatural was happening in this town but she always thought that Summer would be able to stay out of it where it was safe. “It’s ok, Summer, I’m sure there is a reasonable explanation..well reasonable for us anyway.”

Erica moved back over to Summer and wrapped her arms around her shoulders again. “She tried to throw a desk at you, Summer. That makes her a freaking monster, not you. Anyone would lose control. I would’ve ripped her damn throat out. I still might.”

“Erica, no! Anyway, I – I mean,” she stammered, “I didn’t set it on fire with a lighter.” She gave Erica a pleading glance. “I did it with my bare hands. I don’t know what’s happening to me.”
