Hollywood is concerned about illegal downloads, but HBO programming president Michael Lombardo told Entertainment Weekly recently that the network sees the piracy of “Game of Thrones” as a sign of success more than a problem.
“I probably shouldn’t be saying this, but it is a compliment of sorts,” Lombardo said ahead of the season 3 premier. “The demand is there. And it certainly didn’t negatively impact the DVD sales. [Piracy is] something that comes along with having a wildly successful show on a subscription network.”
Prodding poor parents to get even more involved is really just a callous disregard for the fact that parental involvement–while ideal–is a luxury that not all families can afford.

It is also a callous disregard for the way the state’s most fail-happy school system is organised: many Nashville Metro schools are filled with children whose bus rides are several /hours/, because in the name of ‘desegregation’, those children are bused across the county to attend school. A household with two working parents does not have the time to be involved with their childrens’ school life in the way this bill would demand.

This is the greatest thing I have ever seen. People do not understand that mental illnesses, such as depression, are actual chemical imbalances in your body. They are not brought on by choice. My dad was diagnosed with depression. He was so ashamed of it that he hid it from me and my brothers. A month later, he killed himself. The stigma that comes with mental illness made my Dad embarrassed to talk to his own kids about this problem because he felt like less of a man.
Erase the stigma. The more we talk about mental illness, the less likely it will end in suicide.
