“I do try, darlin’.” She folded her arms and leaned a hip against the desk, watching him devour with a little smile. “Would it be better if I just made a once-a-week doughnut run for you? Rather than trying to lure you out once a month, say.”

“Pepper might have kittens if you did, but I’m not saying no.” Tony smirked cheerfully, excited. The sugar was already serving to make him hyper, and after so much sitting, he didn’t try to contain it.

“Come on! /Pepper/ obviously doesn’t understand what fuels you. /You/ need to be let off the leash on a regular basis or you just have, like, a psychotic break and bad things happen!” Summer beckoned, shoving herself up. “So let’s let some of that out — yes, I’m incorriging you — and then I can deliver you back to your kitten-having Pepper ready to be responsible again.” She skipped to the door.

“Ninety-nine percent sure. Especially since I bet I can help you with about half of it. Come on, you’ve been being responsible for over a week now, right? Time for a break.” She held out a hand, coaxing. “All work and no play makes Tony a dull bo~oy.”

She wasn’t being fair, and Tony was tempted to to point that out. He was a grown man after all, and adults were supposed to be responsible. Still, Summer also had a fair point, he had been ‘good’ for over a week, Tony need a break. “Alright. Give me the fried goods, and we’ll go.”

Summer withdrew her hand from the bag, holding them both up in the air. “All yours.” Her grin was enormous. “I had my share before I even got here, you ravenous beast.”

“Thank you, Summer.” He took the bag quickly, but made sure not to snatch it. He removed a doughnut and took a huge bite, chewing contentedly.

“Come to Coney Island with me. I want to play, and I hate going alone.” Removing one box from the bag, she deposited it on the desk just out of his easy reach. “I’ll fix it with Pepper later.”

It sounded fun. A lot of fun. “I can’t.” Tony said, frowning. “I want to, I really do, but I have to work.” It sounded like a good plan though, one he yearned to do. “Are you sure you can fix with Pepper?”

Summer laughed. “I actually just made that up to sound good, although I can if you want; it /is/ kind of terrible on the design side. No, I heard you were actually being responsible and I had to come check it out, like a performing show, you know,” she teased. She dangled a reusable grocery bag from one hand. “I brought doughnuts.”

He wrinkled his nose. “Yes, I am being responsible. Save me Summer, it’s killing me,” he moaned and sprawled on his desk melodramatically, though he perked up when he saw the doughnuts. “Give me the fried pastry goodness. GIVE MEEEE.”

“Settle down, sparky. These are like phoenix downs, I don’t wanna waste ‘em.” Holding the bag at arm’s length, she approached the desk slowly, like she was feeding a wild animal. “Do I get anything in return for this rescue effort?”

“Depends, what do you want?” Tony asked, eyes focused wholly on the bag. “Summmer, please.”  The doughnuts smelled so good. He hadn’t eaten anything today, either.

Tony could smell it in the air, something interesting was about to happen. Anything would be welcome to break the monotony of the recent days in which he had been too busy to even think about visiting his lab. Tony perched uneasily behind his desk, too restless to fully relax. Someone knocked on his closed office door.

“Come in.”

Summer pushed the door open, slipping inside and closing it behind her. “Mr Stark? Do you have a moment? I’d like to talk to you about your company’s website.”

“Hey Summer.” Tony smiled at the woman in front of him, someone he considered a good friend, though they didn’t talk often, as he had been terribly busy lately. “Sure, I’m all ears.” he said, leaning forward, and giving her the most of his attention.
