“Do kitsune actually have blood? Also, he wouldn’t kill you. Just … scare you. A lot.” Summer frowned at the mini fox. “Can you even die? What am I supposed to /do/ with you?”

“Yes, I really have blood, you…” The Nogitsune quickly shut his mouth and glared at the girl. “It takes a lot to kill me. Which would explain the little pack’s decision to transform me into a miniature size of myself.”

She planted her chin on her hand. “That still doesn’t tell me what I’m supposed to do with you … of course, I’m not actually sure how much mischief you can /get/ into this size.” She considered. “I suppose I could let you stay. Provided you promise to limit your mischief around here.”

“If you call me that again I’m putting you in the cat carrier with the cat in it,” she threatened.

“Then you’ll surely have my blood on your hands,” the fox replied simply, while still avoiding the use of the word human.

“Do kitsune actually have blood? Also, he wouldn’t kill you. Just … scare you. A lot.” Summer frowned at the mini fox. “Can you even die? What am I supposed to /do/ with you?”

“My name is Summer,” she told Void. “There are werewolves around here? Great. And what did you do to them?”

“Yes,” he said simply, thinking of the best way to answer her question. “I may have possessed one of their pets.”

She leaned forward and dropped her head against the table. “So now you’re running from them, and about six inches high, and in my apartment, and presumably not lying to me. Why me?”

“I am much bigger than you, so you might want to moderate your words,” Summer commented. She put her hands on either side of the wee fox. “Do I want to know why you’re seeking refuge?”

The Nogitsune glared at the red head, before taking her words to heart and choosing to answer in the least amount of words as possible. “Wolves.”

“Wolves. Large, furry, howl at the moon wolves?” She lifted a sardonic eyebrow. “Why don’t I believe you?”

stilesthesarcasticstilinski:

iamthefirechild:

“Kitsune?” she repeated. “A fox spirit? I thought kitsune were shapeshifters, so how can you be stuck that size? Just shift back.” She mirrored his posture, frowning slightly. “And why are you /here/?”

The Kitsune glared at her. “You think I haven’t tried that, useless human?!” He was outraged, how could she think that he hadn’t exhausted those options. His whole run away from that horrible pack consisted of trying to shift to normal size. Apparently, exuding the boy, Stiles, and taking over ownership of the Oni had exhausted his powers. Not to mention he had no idea what those wolves had done to him. “It was the closest place of refuge,” he said in a dull voice.

“I am much bigger than you, so you might want to moderate your words,” Summer commented. She put her hands on either side of the wee fox. “Do I want to know why you’re seeking refuge?”

Summer lifted the struggling creature up to eyelevel, frowning at it. “Void,  huh? Well, Void, this is my house, and those are my books you’re throwing around. I don’t care how old you are, don’t abuse my books.” Sitting down, she put the wee fox on the coffee table and studied him. “So you aren’t a faery. But you’re tiny. What /are/ you?”

The Nogitsune glared into the huge face of his new captor. “Put me down, you giant fire haired girl,” he said, crossing his arms. Once the Nogitsune was on the table, he sat down, chin rested in his hand. “I’m a Void Kitsune, you fool. I’m not supposed to be this size.”

“Kitsune?” she repeated. “A fox spirit? I thought kitsune were shapeshifters, so how can you be stuck that size? Just shift back.” She mirrored his posture, frowning slightly. “And why are you /here/?”

Helios lifted himself up to keep the prey in sight as it began to climb. The prey’s earlier canniness must have been an accident, because surely it could see that all he had to do was stand up to reach it. He didn’t even have to stretch! He peered at the prey, eyes narrowing — and the prey threw things at him!

Helios abandoned his post in great haste, even as momma came in to see what the noise was.

“What are you doing, silly kitty? Making a mess?”

He twined her legs, looking at the prey triumphantly. Momma would catch the prey now. Momma was smart, for a humin.

Summer stepped over to the bookshelf, frowning. “What /have/ you caught?” She reached out and grabbed the miniature nogitsune, holding him firmly by the back of his coat. “A faery?”

The Nogitsune yelped in surprise as he was lifted from his position. “Let me go, you filthy human,” he yelled out, trying to punch this human’s hand.

“A faery? Are you an imbecile?” he asked, offended by the human’s very insinuation that he was similar to the fae.

“I’m a thousand years old! I’m Void! Let me down!”

Summer lifted the struggling creature up to eyelevel, frowning at it. “Void,  huh? Well, Void, this is my house, and those are my books you’re throwing around. Helios jerked his paw back. The prey bit him! How did the prey manage to bite him through his toe-tufts? This was a more canny prey than expected. He licked the bitten place thoughtfully and bounded after the prey. It talked to him, but it didn’t say the words momma said, so he just used the sound to track it.

But why did the prey keep running into corners? It seemed canny, and then it did stupid things! Was it one of those pretend preys that momma sometimes made? Momma wasn’t very good at making prey act like prey, but it was still fun to attack the pretend preys. Especially the bright long feathers that smelled of wildness.

He crouched in front of the prey in its corner by the bookcase, body and tail low and ready to pounce. One paw reached out to tap at the prey.

The fox began climbing the bookcase, frantically. He wasn’t quite able to get a good foot hold once he was on the second shelf though. The Nogitsune became desperate as he realized the creature was gaining on him and began throwing the books that he was able to lift, down towards the furball.

“Stay back, you beast!” he yelled, scrambling to pull himself up onto another shelf. He gasped trying to catch his breath. Looking down, he realized he had not made it as far as he could and if the furry demon wanted, it could simply stretch up and get him.

Helios lifted himself up to keep the prey in sight as it began to climb. The prey’s earlier canniness must have been an accident, because surely it could see that all he had to do was stand up to reach it. He didn’t even have to stretch!
