Summer drew a little circle in the air with her finger, idly, and a circle of flame traced around the intruder, about chest height. “I did something. I mean, if you came in here to elicit a particular reaction — which you talk like you did — I don’t think you’re going to get it. We don’t /know/ you, boyo, and if either of us, any of us, is supposed to maybe you should start introducing yourself.”

Donny watches her taken back by the fire she created like it was magic.”The hell!?”He asks stepping back when the flames were close. He looks over at her, angry about her words. He licks his lips and shakes his head.”Not going to bother.”He says a little chocked up.”Put this fucking sorcery down and let me go.”

“Pretty sure he’s confused, honey,” Tony remarked dryly, glancing at Summer.  “He comes in here waving a gun, and yet he objects to us.  I think I’m offended.”  He rolled his eyes.  ”Regardless, if I’d met you, Jarvis would recognize you, and he doesn’t.  Which means I’ve done jack-all to warrant to gun waving.  So unless you have a very compelling reason as to why we should just let you go, one of us is calling the cops.”

“Oh I’m sorry your stupid computer doesn’t recognize me,clearly you need to work on it.”He says.”Don’t even say that he “knows everyone” because he clearly doesn’t..I’m here,I’m a person and he doesn’t know me..great job having him only know people you know and not have him detect someone when something dangerous happens like..oh I don’t know..if a fucking intruder comes into your home.”He says clearly upset. He hands Tony his gun.”Here.Keep it..detect my fingerprints then put me into your system so you know who I am.”He walks away.”You’re welcome.”

“You don’t get to just leave.” Summer’s tone snapped with anger. “Not at this point.” She dropped another ring of fire around him, closer this time. Much closer. Close enough that if he moved even a little, he was going to lose his clothing and possibly some hair, and she wasn’t going to lift a finger to stop it.

“You waltz in here, bypassing all the alarms and security, which means you didn’t come in past them. So you can just stay there and explain how you got in. Failing that, I can force you to explain. Failing /that/, we’ll just assume you crossed in from another dimension, which means, idiot, that he doesn’t know you and Jarvis doesn’t know you and I certainly don’t fucking know you from Jack’s ass.”

Sparks started to lift off her skin, and she stalked closer to the intruder. “You pulled a gun on Tony,” she hissed. Tension rippled down her back, hot air lifting her hair around her. “You brought a gun into our house, and now you want to say it’s our fault.” She flexed her fingers, struggling to control her temper.

my romantic heart loves this tale but my english major mind wants to apply a spellcheck so badly.

…I run a spellcheck and I haven’t found any mistakes, thanks?))

I … phrased that badly. Sorry.

scandelous state of dishabille?”

I believe it’s ‘scandalous’ and ‘déshabille’, although the latter is either spelling. :/ I really didn’t mean to hurt your feelings D:

“You should definitely try asking him. No harm in trying, right?” Jane asked, shrugging. “Besides, he might be way too interested about the fact that you can call fire to think much about saying no.” And, okay, maybe it would suck having to use that to get an in, but it was completely true. Tony liked science-y things, especially when they were kind of… abnormal.

“I’d offer to pay you to do a website for me, but I don’t really need one,” she said, and chuckled. “S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn’t exactly put any of my research on the internet.” Granted, she could put her own research out there if she wanted to. “And I don’t really want it there, either. I’d rather put it in a book or something. If I write a book, I’ll let you design the website about me.” She grinned.

“You could keep a blog,” Summer suggested. “What the hell do you do, anyway? What kind of research?”

A blog? Jane shook her head, taking a sip from her coffee. She wouldn’t be able to keep up with a blog with all of the time she spent in her lab or plain forgetting what she was supposed to be doing in the first place.

“I’m an astrophysicist,” she said. “So I research space. Right now I’m trying to find out if there’s any correlation between the aurora borealis we see on Earth and the use of the Bifrost in Asgard.” She shrugged. She doubted there really was one, but there was always a possibility for everything. She had to chase down every possibility, every alternative.

“That’s glorious! Can I see your lab? Do you have a lab? Do you get to use the big space telescopes?” Summer leaned forward across the table, practically bouncing out of her seat. “What have you found so far? It’s so /cool/!”
