“Do kitsune actually have blood? Also, he wouldn’t kill you. Just … scare you. A lot.” Summer frowned at the mini fox. “Can you even die? What am I supposed to /do/ with you?”
“Yes, I really have blood, you…” The Nogitsune quickly shut his mouth and glared at the girl. “It takes a lot to kill me. Which would explain the little pack’s decision to transform me into a miniature size of myself.”
She planted her chin on her hand. “That still doesn’t tell me what I’m supposed to do with you … of course, I’m not actually sure how much mischief you can /get/ into this size.” She considered. “I suppose I could let you stay. Provided you promise to limit your mischief around here.”
“It has been a fantastically bad day. I /hate/ sorority day.”
“I’m gonna just assume that’s not any fun for you.”
“They think that because they’re wearing their letters it gives them the right to be absolute bitches. Fuck them, I’m not failing the class so they can feel better.”
“If you call me that again I’m putting you in the cat carrier with the cat in it,” she threatened.
“Then you’ll surely have my blood on your hands,” the fox replied simply, while still avoiding the use of the word human.
“Do kitsune actually have blood? Also, he wouldn’t kill you. Just … scare you. A lot.” Summer frowned at the mini fox. “Can you even die? What am I supposed to /do/ with you?”
Stiles slammed his laptop shut as he walked over to the widow, cracking it so he could speak to Summer. “H-hey… Uh… Whatcha doing?”
“I would have blamed me. Can you — try not to feel quite so hard? You’re making it worse.” Summer sniffled, smearing at more tears.
“I’m not really good at holding back my emotions, if you hadn’t noticed. I mean, I’m kinda freaking out cause you’re in pain and I can’t really do anything about it and it was kinda my fault.”
She bit her tongue on a gasp and glared at him. She hadn’t meant to look at him, dammit Stiles. “I didn’t have to offer to try to fix it. Could’ve left you there. Could’ve done it the other way.” It felt like things were starting to slow down, before another huge spasm bent her back into a bow. “‘s not your fault,” she forced out, and then it let her go, it all let her go, and she slumped back over, panting.
Stiles slammed his laptop shut as he walked over to the widow, cracking it so he could speak to Summer. “H-hey… Uh… Whatcha doing?”
“It’s like standing in a bonfire, being close to it.” Another bout of shudders shook her body from head to foot. “Do I want to know why it’s like that?” Another blink sent tears rolling down her face, and carefully she reached up to smear them away.
“Should’ve just walked away, stupid, stupid Summer,” she muttered quietly.
“A lot of terrible things. Really bad, very not good things,” he said, hating to see his friend in pain.
“Walked away from what? Beacon Hills? Cause I definitely don’t blame you for that. If you meant me… situation, I wouldn’t have blamed you if you had.”
“I would have blamed me. Can you — try not to feel quite so hard? You’re making it worse.” Summer sniffled, smearing at more tears.
She leaned forward and dropped her head against the table. “So now you’re running from them, and about six inches high, and in my apartment, and presumably not lying to me. Why me?”
“I’m assuming that is a rhetorical question, human.”
“If you call me that again I’m putting you in the cat carrier with the cat in it,” she threatened.
Stiles slammed his laptop shut as he walked over to the widow, cracking it so he could speak to Summer. “H-hey… Uh… Whatcha doing?”
She turned her face away, unwilling to face that right now, and gritted her teeth. “Does your supernatural stuff have anything to do with the giant tree stump in the middle of the forest? Because I’m pretty sure,” she paused to hiss through her teeth, blinking away tears, “it’s magic.”
Stiles scratched the back of his head and sighed. “You’d guess right. It’s called the Nematon. And uh… yeah. Magic is an understatement.”
