Instinctively Summer scrunched over, eliciting feline grumbles and a thump. She rolled half onto one shoulder, blinking owlishly and frowning in the dim light. “Merlin?” she mumbled. “What is it? Thought you were with Mordred … ” She lifted that arm and put it around his shoulders.

“Nononono, you’re supposed to lead because I don’t even know where the rinks are and you live here, well so do I but you’ve lived here longer than I have.” Summer bounced over to the door, pulling on Xavier’s hand, and down the hall, and down the stairs, and stopped at the parking. “Drive, walk, bus, metro?”

[♙—     “Let’s just walk, yeah? It’s a nice and cold day.” And he really freaking loved winter — it was his favorite season. “And calm down, Summer! You’re going to be tired out before we get there.”

Entirely on purpose this time, she vibrated a little more, laughing at him. It had been a long time since she was this happy. “If I am, that’s my problem!” Her boots squeaked on the snow, her breath puffed out in clouds, and her nose and cheeks were already turning red from cold, but she didn’t care. She was out, with a friend, going to do something she wanted to do. The world was great.

“Which way?”

She still vibrated under his grip, just in place instead of all over the place. “If you get sick I’m not taking responsibility. Tony can nurse you back to health. Come /on/!”

[♙—     “Alright, alright! Geez, lead the way then!” Xavier laughed, finally letting go of her shoulders so that she could vibrate in peace. “You’re eager today, aren’t you?”

“Give it back.”

Summer giggled, clutching the bailey’s ice cream to her chest. “Nope! Nope nope nope, you’re cut off and this is mine now!”

Summer looked at him upsidedown from her position on the floor. “Sweetheart, if I /wanted/ to get drunk, I wouldn’t use alcoholic ice cream to do it with. Finish it. I’m just saying, I don’t want to get drunk. There’s no point to it; I’m just as weird without, and I don’t have to get a hangover.”

“I wouldn’t have had to resort to this if I had a choice,” Tony said flippantly, finishing the said ice cream with one mouthful at a time. The circumstance with his younger sister made him think it best if they didn’t have any alcohol in the flat, or anywhere near really, and this was his only way of getting some. “Weird is one way to put it.”

She rolled over, brushing her hair out of her face. “What’s going on?” Not that there was any real expectation of getting him to talk, but she had to ask. It was too much part of who she was, to notice the little twitches that most people couldn’t even see.
