*sighs* I’ve been there. Will that help you hear me? In the end, the only person who can help you is yourself. We can be here to encourage you, cheer you on, say things that will help. You /can/ do it. Hold on, straighten up, straighten out. Don’t rush yourself.

We aren’t ever given to know the count of the living, and I swear to you there is at least one person out there whose life would be poorer if you, as YOU, didn’t exist. You — this is a hurtful thing, but a true thing — you can’t tell us what difference you’ve made to us. But you have. In ways that can’t be seen, that might not ever make it to the surface you matter.

Of all the times on all the worlds in all the possible universes why were you born of that mistake? It can’t have been a mistake that way, you see? You exist for a reason. Your existence is a precious thing. I’m telling you all the things I tell myself when the night is dark, when I want to die, when I believe the same things you are telling yourself right now. I know it’s hard. God, I know, I know how little words can mean. I’ll say them to you on skype or on the phone if you want. I’m a stranger to you, but I’ll say them anyway because they’re true and I believe them.

ooc;

it’s really bad tonight. i’m cold and i can’t get warm, the fire won’t light no matter what we do. i tried to roleplay bit all my asks just vanished. it’s stupid for that to hurt but it does. i have to keep reminding myself i’m not being ignored on purpose. i have to keep repeating that it’s okay. that i have friends, that people care, that i don’t need to beg for attention.

it’s stupid for me to be sitting here crying over noting at all — i got a lot done today. i haven’t eaten bit that’s all. i’ve emailed a lot of people about catering, and got some calls back, and updated my mom, and bathed, and and and

and that’s a lot for me.

i shouldnt be this far down, this is just one of those days when the tiniest things overset, weigh so much more. and feeling like i’m not able to roleplay because people aren’t respinding is grindingly painful for me. i can’t explain it its just there.

ill be okay i promise. one breath at a time, its just hard right now and i needed to write it out

“I, sir, can deal with anyone. Um. How would you like to go about this getting to know each other better?”

“If you’re so confident. The usual; chat, have a meal, take a walk. I’m a pretty regular guy when I want to be, though that doesn’t happen often.”

“My confidence is born of experience.” Summer grinned up at him. “Shall we walk, then? It’s a little cold for my taste, but I’m game if you are. Or shall it be like twenty questions?”

“I love twenty questions. But if you’re okay with coffee and toast, we can stay in and do that here. I’ll let you go first while I get them ready.”

“I actually don’t drink coffee. But, like a boy scout, I come prepared.” She fished a paper packet out of her knapsack. “Hot chocolate. So, tell me, Mr Stark, what’s your favourite movie?”

Breaking In

“I actually live here, not that far away. I’m not exactly a volunteer, though.” She nodded toward the computer. “You can find me in the SHIELD databases as a consultant. Search-and-rescue. I really really did just fly up the face of your Tower to see what it looked like all cleaned up.” Her return smile matched his, maybe a little more playful. “And I was a little curious about you.”

“You flew up here?” Was Tony’s first question, piercing her with an interested look. But smiled again as he added, “And? What did you think?” Already JARVIS was running the search for Summer Rainault, the SHIELD consultant, but the engineer did honestly prefer getting the information straight from the source, later confirming it by reading what reports he could find. “My life’s an open book, everyone knows everything. You’re welcome to stay if it’ll satisfy your curiosity; I want to know what you do. So you help save people. What are your special abilities?”

Summer laughed at him. “In order, then. Yes; I like, a lot; I’m an empath with fire control abilities.” She folded her arms and leaned against the wall. “Anything else you want to know? I don’t keep secrets; ask me anything.”

Taking a few sideways glances at his screen, he confirmed from the picture that the girl was indeed Summer, and the report on her abilities and what she did for SHIELD. “Just really what you’re doing here. But if it’s just curiosity, I can relate. If you want to take a look around I’ll give you the clearance. You’re aware Jarvis will be watching so I doubt you’ll touch anything you shouldn’t. If there’s anything you need, or want, from me, then nothing’s stopping you from telling me,” he answered, finishing with a smile.

“I expect touching anything would be, hmmm, detrimental to my health? My genius isn’t the same as yours, after all.” She grinned at him. “It’s a gorgeous place you’ve built here, Mr Stark. Much better now that the windows are all in and there’s no hole in the floor.” She rolled off the wall and walked toward him, stuffing hands in her pockets. “That satisfies that curiosity, but not the other.” She stopped on the other side of his monitors, watching him with suddenly grave green eyes. “The open book of your life doesn’t say anything about that guilt.”

She grinned. “I was kidding. I knew you knew I was there. I just wanted to see what the place looked like.”

“Well, don’t be shy. Come right in. I’m sure if you’ve found your way in here, you know who I am. Please, just Tony.” He smiled welcomingly, his suit’s glove on from having been tinkering with. “And now please satisfy my curiosity and tell me who you might be, and what you’re here for. Maybe I can help.”

“It is a lot of curiosity,” she admitted. She eyed the glove with a fair amount of her own curiosity. “I’m Summer. Summer Rainault. I helped clean up around here after the, um, the Manhattan Incident, and I thought I’d like to see what it looked like in good condition.”

“So you’re visiting the city? I’ll admit it looks a lot better now with the buildings fixed and the streets cleaned.” He chuckled and gestured for her to come closer. “Don’t worry, I’m not going to blast you; here, I’ll take it off. I’ve finished anyway.” Tony removed the forearm of his armor and set it on the desk, looking her over. “If you don’t mind me asking, Summer, you weren’t one of the volunteers, were you? You did just break into my Tower, even if I allowed it. Tell you what, you share with me what you came here to do and I’ll let you try the glove.” He offered with a smirk, attentive to her reactions and response.

“Really? Damn, I thought I was so good at hiding.”

Tony pointed to his screen, though from where she was, she wouldn’t be able to see it. “Cameras, heat sensors, super alert personal AI. I was warned.” He smiled though, curious about her and what her motives were to break in. She didn’t seem to be a threat, not from the first moment, which was why he had let her approach.
